As of Wednesday morning, there were more than 2,700 Division I baseball players in the transfer portal
That's an average of almost 9 players per team. And that's from just the first 2 days of the portal being open.

“So people are cheating. And I’m not perfect. I’m not saying that."

I really have a hard time getting wound up about this.
Translation: So if VMI has a pretty good player who's not quite P4 level, I've got no problem with tampering with him. But when P4 schools come after my players, it's a problem

Tampering has always happened, cannot effectively be stopped via enforcement, and is not that big of a deal.

College sports are broken because of immediate eligibility. Fix that, and you fix perpetual free agency, making tampering even less problematic.

It's annoying that people focus on the wrong things and can't see (or won't call out) the real problem.

Exactly. Bring back sitting out a year and you'd fix the problem overnight. Add a rule that your sit out year for your 1st transfer doesn't count towards your 5 years to play 4, so no player can claim he's being hurt by the new rule.

Makes you wonder if there's any connection between these "coach outrages" in general and this specifically followed by the lack of any detail or naming names. Seems we might have that finger and thumb thing going. Is this where you do the "$1 to JOMO" thing?

If they have text messages to a player who isn't in the portal, how can that not be enforced? Seems really easy to stop that to me.

Hammer the ones who did it where you can prove it.

If he has proof, why is he tweeting about it and not reporting it to the NCAA?

This isn't new for Godwin. He's been on this for a while.

He's been connected to our open job this year and in the past. I'm glad we got O'Connor instead.

The NCAA can't enforce this. It'll be up to the schools. Each school needs to agree to contracts. You can transfer, but you have to play for that school for 2 years & it be a rule enforced by every school.

I just can't see the model now having any longterm sustainability.

It will just go to court and get thrown out.

The problem is that the NCAA no long has a hammer. They have a stuffed toy hammer you give to newborns.

Exactly.. he's saying..

"Man, I admit... I may text a couple of players here and there but these bitches be out here texting like CRAZY!"

This. He is the underachieving Hugh Freeze of college baseball.

That program has a great fanbase for a non-power program. Their game atmosphere is better than several SEC/ACC schools. They deserve a trip to Omaha. But that hypocrite go pound sand.
