I heard it has been proposed with support from Mayor Starling that the high school take over all football activities from the rec, and host games on Saturdays at DH stadium and let some current coaches and players be coaches and asst. coaches to help teach and influence the kids.

Sounds like a great idea, but will it happen, who knows.

I mean i like the idea but isnt that alot on the plate of the high school coach....i mean i like high school coaches being involved in the development as far as lil camps and stuff but to be in charge of running the whole league when you already have things you have to do for your own team as far as practices, game planning, scouting, scheduling, etc etc thats alot to handle......now is that something Coach Johnson proposed

Idk who proposed the idea, just thought it on paper sounded like a good one.

Both Cameron and Jaheim were poised for big seasons a year ago of course other things happened....Jaheim as a sophomore in 2017 was leading the team in rushing and was just really settling in before he had to sit out the remainder of the season due to a eligibility issue kid has some serious speed not the biggest guy in the world but really fast....that same season Cameron and Jamelle were the JV star backs and like Jaheim both have some serious speed especially if they get outside led the JV to a conference title that year
Every little bit of depth helps, especially on the defensive side of the ball!

Yes cause late in that Cape Fear game last year i believe we got tired....huge element of speed if all them are participating this year i look forward to seeing how it all pans out
I think that's what led to our losses last year-we got tired, which then caused us to make silly mistakes, like false starts, holding, etc. during critical times in the game.

Is Clinton still doing summer football camp for the youth? That may be a good place to start as far as boosting interest to the younger generation......couple former Clinton players spearheaded by guys like Bryan Peterson,Willie Parker,LC Stevens, former asst Coach and player Jason Arnette were doing it before seemed pretty big......Peterson,Parker,Arnette all coaching other places now and pretty sure most of free time is devoted to their own programs

A lot of the lower participation numbers in football has to do with perception. Parents don't want their kids playing for fear of concussions and other injuries. But studies have shown that just as many, if not more kids get injuries from playing soccer.

Agreed i commented on something about that before....i was just thinking getting back to having camps for the younger kids and even older ones would be a good idea it teally sparked it up before.....look at what Spell is doing with soccer having a summer camp for the youth football gotta start doing the same

On another note, I've read that Terry Sanford is replacing their grandstand. It is concrete like Clinton's, and the concrete is crumbling and metal areas rusting. Can't weld to rust. Cumberland County Schools has $2 million set aside for the project, which they are also looking to build new concessions areas, storage building and a hardtop track to replace the dirt ring that currently surrounds the football field. The number of seats will be reduced from 2,995 to 2,000, but it will be ADA-compliant. An option for Clinton is maybe add bench seating with seat-backs. It might reduce the seating just a bit, but it would make for much more comfortable seating versus sitting on that hard concrete.

The concrete is an iconic look for Clinton. I don’t like the aluminum jungle look. It will need to be replaced one day but capacity shouldn’t be reduced. For big games you run out of room to sit now, take away seats and it really will be first come first serve.

JDaques Wallace received a offer from St. Andrews today seems a steady pipeline has been created between that university and Clinton...believed we had 6-7 guys sign with them this last year and Isiash Page back in 2016

Well, we do have a relatively new, (2nd year), young coach. but I think Coach Johnson leans on primarily running the ball and playing staunch defense! Its worked here for years! I suppose it may depend on who we got that can throw and catch!!

I mean its running the pigskin is Clinton football and judging by the hogmollies we got coming back next year couple with a variety of skilled runners if its not broke dont fix it.....but the other side of that coin you dont wanna be uncomfortable passing the ball when you need too....late in the season/playoffs going against tougher teams its good to have that in your back pocket if needed.

Looks like Jason Arnette and Bryan Peterson, along with Harrells Christian Academy and the City of Clinton Parks and Rec, are hosting a youth football camp July 8 and July 15 from 5-7pm at the Clinton Rec Department.

Wow so i responded to Mr Earl Vaughn on twitter when he posted about Pamlico County needing a game sept 20th i tagged The Darkhorse football page in it just saying it would be a nice matchup since both teams have a bye that week. Honestly didnt think nothing would come of it but today i see Coach Mcfatten responded saying it was in the works....not sure if he talking about a game with Pamlico County or another one on that open week but if it happens i can say hey i kinda helped scheduling a game LOL!!!!!

Its a home game so Sept 20th Clinton vs Pamlico County......not sure how much they return from the team that went 13-2 and was 1A runner up a season ago....checking maxpreps they return two 1,000 yard rushers....only 2 loses a year ago came against State Champions(Tarboro,Murphy).....Should be a fun game tho happy they got it done. Happy i was able to bring it to the coaches attention..... maybe the school will let me get in free that game LMAO!!!!!!

Per Max preps it’ll be A 5 straight game road stretch during September counting this game. It would’ve been 4 straight for us had we decided to go on the road.

Thats rough for PC i guess they really just wanted to fill that slot by any means....could be a good thing prepares their team for what may happen in the post season unless your a high seed you gonna travel.....and being a small 1A team playing a 2A school nothing to lose and everything to gain....PC is familiar to Sampson County they have played Lakewood a couple times in the past if im not mistaken this would be the first time these 2 schools have met on the Football field

interesting, and endowment game. Over recent years not playing an endowment game potentially pits a team at a disadvantage in playoff seeding. In play and endowment game it allows you to throw out any non-conference loss. In the end, the total # of wins can affect the seeding process. Could make the difference in a home or away playoff game! I'm glad we got this game, though it will not be an easy game. It should. make us better!
