There's no excuse for not knowing them.

There's no excuse for not knowing how to run a "2-minute" drill.

Even I know most of the clock rules. Give me 12 hours and I'd know every last one of them.

Maybe he could hire me to stand beside him and remind him every so often. I'd do it for $2K/game.

Following one of those burned timeouts, a sure delay of game penalty was bailed out by a false start. You shouldn't have to use up the entire play clock after a timeout.

And at the end of the 3rd quarter, Lee wanted to call a timeout with the game clock running out the quarter. Fortunately, he called it right after the game clock hit 0:00 and we didn't needlessly burn another one. If he knew what was going on, he'd just let the clock run out and walk away.

We're simply not prepared.

so I don't know if it's been discussed, and this is not really a "clock rule" deal, BUT, has anyone thought about the absolute bonehead move that it took to f'n DECLINE a penalty on GT when the ball is on the f'n 1/2 yard line (half the distance, replay the down), that would have given us a f'n FREE PLAY? How does that incompetent man decline that penalty, and then turn right around and hand the ball to a back who just rumbled, bumbled and stumbled 71 yards and was obviously gassed? I was protesting to my car dashboard, "Do WHAT?" over and over.

Croom should have taken the penalty making it 2nd and 2-3. When it was 4th and 1 he also should have gone for the touchdown instead of trying to kick it - if we didn't make the 4th and one after two trys GT would have at least been starting on the 1 yard line instead of on the 20 after the missed FG.

Taking the penalty got you much closer, and wasn't a horrible decision.

Going for the FG however, was. Should have gone for it on fourth.

and, if so, what did he say? [I quit listening after the 88 yard stroll through our defense].

Unless it's the end of the half or the game, there's almost no reason to attempt a FG when you're inside the 5-yard line. Go ahead and go for the TD, knowing that even if you don't get it there's a good chance you'll get the ball on the plus side of the 50 in a minute or two.</p>

With our imaginative play-calling, and our 4th grade flag football Southwest YMCA offensive line it was the wrong call. I'll take two shots from inside the 3 because one of those (hopefully) would've been some sort of pa/bootleg type play. Because as it was I, you, Woody, Croom, the GT defense, the GT coaching staff, The Georgia Tech band director, the guys holding the chains, the hot dog vendor, the guy that drove the rambling wreck car, the guy in the yellow jacket costume, bully's handler, the cheerleader coach, the LF broadcasters, the referees, the grounds crew, the blimp captain, the ticket scalpers - every one of them knew what was coming on 3rd and 1/2 a yard. Everyone.

how many times have you ever seen a team decline a penalty in that situation? not taking an extra down inside the 5 yard line is mistake.

You decline that penalty. You then have 2 plays from about 1 foot away. Given that Cruums still believes the team can get 1 yard anytime they need one (I don't know why, but he obviously still believes this), you definitely decline that penalty.

OTOH, how the HELL do you attempt the FG down there, and then go for it on 4th down from the 40 on your next possession????

Who gives a **** who knew it. Croom could have called a time out and walked accross the field to tell the GT coaches what we were about to do we still should have scored. All the oline needed to do was make room for the running back to get 1.5 feet. If the offensive line cannot get that much of a push against a middle of the road ACC school.. we will not win another game.
