Is it possible that two things could be true at the same time?

(1) could it be true that the NIL budget is significant, even approaching the number that HD6 used?

(2) could it also be true that recruits don’t want to take the money to play for a coach and program that is going nowhere?

Let’s assume the $30M estimate is correct:

How willingly are boosters going to pony up similar funds in 2027 when we fill the 2026 roster with 3 star recruits and win 5 games or less?

I’ve thought for a while now that coaches’ leashes will get smaller and smaller when money talks. Maybe the 4 year contract rule in MS will play to our advantage finally.

I think both of these are true. From everything I’ve heard, we are certainly committed enough from a money standpoint to have more than 1 conference win over the past 2 seasons. And there is no doubt #2 is correct. Hell paindonthurt is about the only person on earth that has faith in lebby.

If our 2026 roster budget is $30m, I’m both impressed and depressed. I’m impressed we scrounged that up. I’m depressed because we haven’t gotten **** in the portal, and it feels like we should’ve pulled a Cadaver and just used that money to bring in guys in 2027 after we have a new coach and after we have the narrative of “um, come play for us, we have this amazing new coach” to sell to recruits

I believe we have the money to match some offers from other sec schools. However as was pointed out, if all schools are offering the same amount, which school are the best choosing? The winners.

So to really turn this thing around, we need to offer beyond market for some of these players. Which I'm pretty sure, I heard an Out of Leftfield episode in which it was said paying above market wasn't going to happen because it "resets the market".

I was told the $30M is new. Not sure what it was the last two years, but it apparently wasn’t that much.

So you can’t say what you said 2 years ago and prove it?
Got it
Expecting someone to sort through posts of theirs from 2 years ago is absurd. Just say 'no you didnt' and be done. It's way more reasonable than 'show us the post from years ago!', as if someone who posts as often as goat can easily find a random post without knowing a specific keyword.

If you don’t support us when we go 1-7 this year, don’t even think about jumping on the bandwagon when we go 2-6 next year.***

Even though we assume it’s all about money, not being terrible probably still matters as does putting kids in the NFL.

I definitely remember him being anti-Lebby prior to him coaching his first game because he didn’t think the type of offense he ran is what we needed from a strategic standpoint at State. This came at the same time I and others were getting excited about some of the (supposed) portal success, so it was probably 2 years ago

What everyone is failing to understand is that we are still playing catch up from 2 seasons ago. We’re having to add 50+ new players two years in a row because we didn’t already have the talent/depth on the roster to begin with. So yes having $30 million is great to spend on a roster but in reality you’re back paying some of that to compensate from what you didn’t have to begin with.

I would say their willingness is directly tied to two things:

1) Does Lebby produce this year (my bet is that he doesn’t).
2) If he doesn’t, is he fired early enough (October-ish) to hire a new HC with enough time to maximize portal recruiting.

Who even knows what anybody's total payroll is? Why isn't that public knowledge like it is for professional sports?

Why do we have to guess and debate how much money is being spent?

Seemed to work out great for Oregon. Throw huge wads of cash out to the lazy and selfish 4 and 5 stars. Great plan.

The other crazy thing is the collective $$$ on top of the rev share. That’s where the no cap comes into play. There’s a review board that is supposed to look at if it’s a legitimate offer for “nil”. But even with that - there’s the $$$ under the table too.

Im still disappointed the schools just rolled over and kept the Collectives in business. The House settlement was hardly perfect, but it was set up to provide a salary cap and basically shut down the Collectives...but as soon as the Collectives complained about the Clearinghouse, we went right back to the Wild West.

Go back and look at the number of posts where you have a reply that says something about "I've been telling y'all that for years". It's no wonder everybody thinks you're a stinking CU-NT.

I just hope we aren't over spending for the players we are getting just so we can spend our $30 MM. Let's save some for the new staff to use next year.
Is there any doubt we are overspending and underperforming with 1 conference win in 2 seasons and it was against a team with a fired coach? It's like opening a little tube of super glue, you feel like you need to use the whole damn thing because it's going to be dried up and not be available next time
