I understand that there are a lot of raw nerves about government's roll in society, ie gun control, etc after the terrible incident. There will always be the lunitic fringe on both sides of the issue and there will always be paranoia about the black tops programs in our government. But part of the reason for the paranoia is the actions of the government itself. Our founding fathers were very Leary of the government they created and we should all have a healthy dose of scepticism about it. Look up the experiments our government performed on Tuskegee men with syphilis and chemically induced mind control experiments in the MK Ultra program. Always be watchful no matter who is in office. Things that seem very innocent can have terrible consequences. Read How to Kill Eleven Million People, which is about the terrifying consequences of blind trust in the Nazi German Government.

in before the lock....just to say the 'actions of the government' have been pretty good here. What determines the level of paranoia are the completely sane people that dont know how to filter out the 17ing nuts who post stupid ****.

Look, I'd love to believe in some good government conspiracy. I've visited the School Book Depository Museum in Dallas 3 times and read alot on it. Know what? Might have been a conspiracy, but it probably wasnt.

What we need are less GULLIBLE people. More pragmatism.

Most government conspiracy stuff is pretty laughable, but governments function by collecting more and more power in a centralized group who make more and more decisions for everyone. It is the nature of governmental systems. We have been a great example of how to make changes through the ballot box. With that said, everyone should be watchful of the things that are done, for safety, the societal good, etc. It serves no ones best interest to say that elected officials always have our best interest at heart.

If our government ever really stumbled financially large portions of our country would look like NOLA after Katrina due to the masses surviving off of entitlement programs. Many people are fearful of this possibility and have armed themselves accordingly. The programs are a God send for many but have gotten too outrageously large and misused thanks to our bloated, poorly run government.
