C'Mon Now, Rank Byron in the Top 10

Ive had this battle for years and it still rages on.......I do a weekly Chicagoland Top 30 poll and have for decades. Byron is west of I-39 and is more of a Rockford suburb than anywhere else. They simply are not Chicagoland.
I love Byron football, Coach Boyer is tremendous along with his staff and also it's an amazing community for high school football. I saw them last season at Dixon and that was one of the best atmospheres I've been to in years.

I understand they are not Chicagoland and therefore not ranked. I'm just a big fan of them. They do well against CCL teams and have been looking awesome over the last three years. That 70 or roughly 70 points scored in the state title game two years ago was amazing!
Uh, no. Upper levels just too big and deep. Gonna run the wing T against Rice? They average 279 lbs. Rita not too far behind. LA, ESL, MC, Main S, GBW, Fremd? Byron is a great 3A team and that’s all they have to be
I get you but rankings during the.regular season and playoffs are different.
As teams get eliminated in the playoffs a lot drop down below those still alive in the playoffs.

I wanted to wait till I saw them play live till I commented, they are a great group of kids with impressive levels of talent, but when I look at how they would line up with many of the top 20 teams I just don’t think they have the size and depth to make the full 48 minutes. Hard to say who is correct here but just my gut.
Don’t know, don’t really care. Great kids, great game, great coaches, great fans but simply couldn’t keep up with the size and depth of the top 10 teams.
Don't know Jwar. I have seen them play in person 5 times and they are a hell of a team.
I agree they are a hell of a team not taking anything away from them but the are giving up size and depth everywhere.
Probably because they gave up 50 to tolono unity ok.

that’s a pretty good group of 10 and I’m not trying to leave anyone out.
I’m not convinced that an actual 3A team could ever be top 10 due to the size and depth issues that have been discussed, but with regards to this list, Byron has proven the past couple years that they are Montini’s equal.

They’ve been they’re equal on one day. To play at that level for 9 weeks of regular season and then playoffs? Thats a tall order. Montini does it week in and week out. We will never know.
Yeah I agree with the season long grind not being a part of it, but they beat Montini in Lombard in 2023, came within inches of beating them in 2024, and also have a semifinal win at IC Catholic in 2021.
Kinda my point. They’re not even top 10 in one conference. You mentioned LWE too. They don’t have the size, depth or athletes to go against the best teams. They are are great team, they’re a dynasty team, they are not a top 10 team.
You guys are including a Byron in a fictional top 10. Are they montini/naz/br/mount carmel equal in one game ? Yes. Are they able to withstand a ccl schedule? Absolutely not. They do not have the talent or Size or wherewithal. They play a cupcake schedule for a reason. Stop including them in actual conversations until they play REAL defenses for an entire season. I’m sick of this
Smoked IC this year too. Same IC team beat St Francis.
To me, they are pretty identical to JCA.
I guess the discussion comes down to if you had to bet $1,000 on ,say, Byron vs any of the top ten, who would you take?
