Its quite sad someone would root so much against a player on the team he "supports" I have seen nothing but negative from coach 34 about TR and he didnt give him a chance from the word go. There is no use arguing with him on this or anything relating to basketball cause he is a jackass onthe subjectsand will pull any BS reason to validate his views. any other topic of discussion and he is reasonable ok totalkwith though</p>

you are all over it if someone says Tyler Russell went 8-11 for 150 yds and 1 INT.

You concentrate on the one INT.

Yeah, but he will not have the 2nd string OL protecting him and he will have a RB to hand off to.

Relf may be better and will probably win the job, but to make a judgement based on the spring game is really not looking at the details of the game. Relf wouldn't have looked very good if he was in Russel's shoes.

I didn't realize other teams would actually play their first string defenses against us.

When he does play against other teams 1st string defense he will have our first string offense out there with him.

The reason I mentioned the first string defense was to insinuate that Relf was going against our second team...Unfortunately he will have to play 1st string defenses this fall as well. I won't be sold on him until he shows he can do that consistently.

locke and thunderclap say he did (or might have, or almost did)...so who the 17 knows i guess. Point is, like DS said, it's sad and disgusting that you so desperately want it to be true.

i've posted several times why it's a bad thing if russell sucks this year. I've never seen anybody refute it or even acknowledge it. the silence says a lot.

SOMEBODY other than Relf will play some meaningful time under center this year while Relf is banged up or not in a rythym. Maybe Favre can be that guy, but I doubt it. We need somebody that can play those series and move the offense down the field, so you rooting for TR to suck is basically you rooting for us to not win as many games as we possibly could this year.

but simply pointing out when a player has a tendency to turn the ball over alot when pressured, they continue to do that- like your boy Tyson Lee, or even a Jarrett Lee from LSU. They may be good players, but make terrible decisions under pressure. So far, thats the impression of Russell. We'll see if this continues to be the case

I would love for Russell to lead us to a 12-0 season- but he's not that guy.

For what its worth, veazey says neither of the interceptions russell threw were completely his fault. One was a pass bobbled by a receiver, and the other was after his arm was slapped by a pursuing defender.

that's not the impression of Russell since he has yet to play in a game. We all hope they both do well and I think they both will because of two things. 1 - the offensive line is good ; 2 - Mullen has an offense in which he can play to the strengths of the players on the field at the time. That's what good college coaches do.

isn't exactly a good idea. The guy is hands down the most incompetent beat reporter we've ever had.

definition of being balanced. He said it doesn't mean 50/50 run to pass. Being balanced is when the defense takes away the run, you can beat them with the pass and vice versa.

unfortunately, I'm not sure that we're quite there yet. We may be, and I think we're getting there, but right now, if someone stops our running game, we're screwed. Maybe Relf will surprise me. At least at this point, he can't beat someone with his arm.

Like I said, I think we're headed more in that direction once we get more WR's in and as we develop our QB's and WR's.

By the time Tyler Russell is the starter, we may very well run a little less option, but we may actually be more balanced because I think that Tyler will eventually be a better passer than Relf, and I think we will utilize that, but we certainly will not abandon the run, and we would be foolish to do that with Conner in our backfield, who I think will be really good in the future as well. There is no doubt that Russell has a cannon, and opponents are going to have to respect that, and that is going to open the running game up.

So, if these players pan out and stay healthy, we have a lot to look forward to. There is no reason we shouldn't be even better in the future.
