3) Mullen does not want to show his hand. And show that there are no guarantees of starting spots to get players to work harder.

Mullen also said he wants to be balanced on offense- yet when he had Tebow and WR's like Harvin, Louis Murphy, Deonte Thompson, Riley Cooper, and TE Hernandez- they ran the ball 63% of the time.
Get back with me after the Auburn game about co- #1 QB's
Coach34 said:but no Todd, that's not the reason. In 2007, with those same players, Tebow threw the ball more- they were 57% to 43% pass. They ran the football more in 2008 because that is what it takes to be more successful- especially in this offense- you use the numbers advantage. Throwing it more didnt win them a NC.
Check Bama's stats last season- they have Jones and Maize at WR plus others. They can throw it as much as they want to. But they run it over 60% of the time because that's what wins football games.
67% run is a little high- but definitely look for us to be around 62-63% run
Russell was a true freshman last season, a redshirt freshman this season. Tyson Lee was a senior last year. Russell is doing what he is supposed to be doing right now, which is learning. He isn't supposed to be starting in the SEC, yet.Coach34 said:To this point, I have been more right than the football experts of Sixpackspeak. He throws a pick on his 1st pass in the Spring Game- 2 for the day. He throws a pick-6 in 7 on 7 the first day of practice. Yet for some reason some posters, after cursing the day Tyson Lee was born for turning the ball over at bad times, still think he needs to be the QB for us.
Practice has started, games are just around the corner- judgement time is coming soon.

I dont want Russell to be awful, but I reported to the Board what some other coaches had said about him in that he wasnt a great QB, and after watching some highlights I agreed. Other posters around here proclaimed him to be the Saviour of our program and possibly the best QB to ever play for us. Afrodawg even said during his Sr year of HS he was already better than anybody we had playing QB. Bonedaddy proclaimed Mullen could not afford to RS Russell for the sake of his job and the effect it would have on recruiting. Others were raising hell about Mullen RS'ing him and thought he should be the starter last Fall.
