They should have the best special teams in the country. Punter won the Ray Guy and Kicker was a finalist for the Lou Groza. They also have a dynamic return man.
They have the best WR in the country, 2 really good backs, and the best, most experienced O-line in the conference.
New D-coordinator should improve the defense. And they don't play Bama or LSU from the West.
Richt and UGA also do better when they are playing the underdog role. Only questions are a redshirt freshman at QB and just how much will the Defense improve making a transition to a 3-4. </p>
very good on the OL, in the backfield, and at WR...
inexperienced at TE and a QB that has yet to take a college snap
average on the DL, good LB's, and average at best Secondary (could be below average)
I don't see them beating SC in Columbia in the 2nd game of the season. Then they have to turn around the next Saturday and win a shootout at home against Arkansas with a bad secondary and an inexperienced QB...and THEN in week 4 they come to Starkville...So their green QB has to take on 2 of the top half SEC defenses and the best offense in the SEC to start out his SEC career
0-3 could very easily happen
1-2 is most likely
2-1 and Richt is without a doubt the 3rd best coach in the conference
3-0 is damn near impossible
They play @Auburn- got to give Auburn the edge...and Florida will beat them in Jacksonville like they do almost every year
but the line will be small...and depending what we do with Aub and LSU- may not be favored in Starkville...they also play GaTech OOC- that could be a loss too
And as I'm sure you well know, favorites only win about 60% of the time in college football- and road favorites much less than that
but GA is -1.5 at SC, -3.5 vs Arkansas and +2 @ AU... anywho, there is zero chance they finish 8th (in wins)in the conference.
regarding your comment "And as I'm sure you well know, favorites only win about 60% of the time in college football"....
that's a patently absurd and false statement....perhaps you meant "And as I'm sure you well know, favorites onlyCOVER about 60% of the time in college football"....????
They were loaded to hell and back 2 years ago with Moreno, Stafford, and Green, but didn't do much. There is no way they go 3-0 against South Car, MSU, and Ark. They're going to lose to Ark and probably split MSU and South Car.
I dont see them beating UF, GT, or Auburn. So that has them at 1-5 in those 6 games. Maybe 2-4 (beat South Car and MSU).
and I would like to see something about favorites and their winning percentages- acting like favorites win at an 80% clip is "patently absurd and false"
and favorites do indeed "cover" around 60% of the time- I misspoke...but I also would be extremely surprised to see that favorites won outright about 80% of the time
