Marcello's twitter reported that Coach Hudspeth has confirmed that he has interviewed for the ULL job and is interested. Even if we keep Dan, which i believe we do at this point, this really could hurt us from a coaching and recruiting standpoint. He is a great players coach and has been very effective so far in developing our offense with the current personnel. <div>
</div><div>I would love for us to be able to step up with a pay raise for most of our current staff to keep us heading in the right direction. Any thoughts?</div>

He may hurt us in recruiting, but not terribly impressed with our receivers corps. They did get better towards the end of the year. And yes, we have to have a QB get them the ball, but I did see more drops than we would like.

you probably should've had a better 2nd post than some Germanic ramblings that have been being discussed for a while. And to make it worse you just had to reference Marcello. To address recruiting, NO I am not concerned about Hudspeth leaving, I'd be a hell of a lot more upset if Diaz left

I agree completely. But when you look at it, that is more of a personnel problem than coaching. You can run all of the drills that you want, but when it comes down to it you need a little more talent than we have at receiver to be completely effective in a spread system.

Would ULL be an upgrade over whatever school he was the head coach of before coming to State? I assume it is, otherwise he wouldn't be interested.

College teaches you to run precise routes, how to limit body movement to become quicker and break out of routes easier, how to read every type of coverage...etc...

If your *** cant catch the ball consistently, that's called lack of talent

if Dan ever decides to leave. It would actually probably be a positive in the long run if he leaves and does well there.

One thing on Hud's resume really is glaring to me- and that's the fact that when he was the OC at Navy, they were winless. Yes, it is Navy, and not necessarily his fault- they could have had an absolutely atrocious defense or something- but it's still scary nonetheless.

He goes to ULL and gets them to some New Orleans Bowls and some GMAC bowls, maybe beats some people like Baylor or Houston a time or two, or has a very respectable outing a significantly more talented team, I would be impressed. If he does that, I'll be on the Hud bandwagon- or perhaps I should say in the Hud home.

As I have said on here before- Hud is a BIG reason why we have been able to get in the door at Madison Central. He is a BIG reason why Joe Price is a commitment, and a big reason why we are doing so well with Tobias Singleton. That said, if he leaves, I don't think that necessarily means that the door is shut at MC either, and honestly as much as I would love for every MC player to be a MSU Bulldog, I'm not sure that it's justifiable to keep him around for that sole reason. Bernard Euell also helps us out as well at MC, after all and I wouldn't be surprised if we give him a look as our next WR coach. We'll see- there may be a ton better candidates too.

How can they get away with promising every football player a job after they finish school? I mean, they're not making Cam Newton money, but it's more than any other school can promise, save for a couple of others in New York and Colorado.

P.S. Other than that one year at Navy, Hud has been a winner at every school he has coached.
