It's not just NFL players that are stupid with their money...

Smith lists $9,278 in monthly net income but $27,620 in monthly expenses, including a$11,666 note to Mushtaque Juneja, a doctor in Louisville, and $5,000 to four different law firms.
Among other assets he lists: $5,000 in home furnishings,$2,500 in memorabilia rings and watches, $900 in books and pictures, $950 in clothing and accessories and $200 in golf clubs and a shotgun.(At least he has a shotgun)

Actually this may explain a lot of what is going on at Arkansas. This kind of

stuff can take a toll on a man and keep him from performing his best which it appears
has happened. Count your blessings.

That doctor is an anesthesiologist. I wonder why he only owes an anesthesiologist and not other doctors? I just find that odd. Hell, he probably couldn't spell his name to write the check. Who knows...

Thinking this is a business deal debt, not medical service related. I think they were business partners. John L got involved in some cockamamie real estate scheme where he used his influence and name to market interests in a development or series of developments. I'm betting Dr. Apu chunked in a significant amount and when it went south he either sued John L or threatened to sue John L and John L agreed to sign a note and start refunding.

I think him and his partners bought up a TOOOOON of real estate and began developing it for a subdivision, and then the 2008 market collapse happened. Can't really fault the guy for that. I think that's honestly why he came back to Arkansas after accepting the HC job at his alma mater. He needed the money.
