"We have to get him in shape." Zion = fat. Confirmed.

Also, K saying he doesn't see Zion ready to play Saturday but that we will have him back.

I know a girl who said she saw him at the Cheesecake Factory last night. She said he appeared to be walking and such fine, but i don't know if cheesecake is going to help his conditioning.

Reporter- “Assuming you are getting Zion back....”

Coach K- “We are gonna have him back...Don’t assume it....We are gonna have him back.”

If we can’t hear that and trust our leader we have issues as a fan base. He’s coming back.

Good press conference. Sounds like we’ll know Friday about Zion, by we shouldn’t keep our hopes up for Saturday. Some good points about only being 100% for 9 conference games if Zion doesn’t play Saturday, and how the offense changes with Zion out and another of the big 4 in foul trouble.

Obviously we won’t ‘know’ Zion is coming back until he’s back, but I just don’t think Duke/K would be saying the things they’re saying if he wasn’t going to be back.

I think people are just being apprehensive and scared to be let down....so they’re making thing up in their mind. Unless there’s some kind of serious setback, no one should be thinking he’s done at Duke. We’ve been given no reason for that to enter our heads. It’s been 13 days, people.

How lucky are the cheats....no Zion for both games ( maybe) and an easier ACC schedule ( which something needs to change since it matters in standings, rankings and seedings)

I'm not sure how much easier their ACC schedule was but they did get lucky about Zion.

The only thing they could do is not schedule the last 4-6 games and pair up teams at that point based on conference record, but even with that you’d have to decide who plays at home, decide if you factor in injuries like Zion’s, etc. There really isn’t anything they can do other than trim the fat back to 11 teams and play 20 conf games.

K knows its KILLING ol Roy he wont have a chance to sweep Duke w/Zion healthy at least once. K knows Zion's progress better than any of us, and he wouldnt be so adamant in his statements if he knew Z-man wasnt coming back. He will be back, and why not wait til the ACC T......????

How lucky are the cheats? The two best players I've seen come through Duke in recent memory Irving and Williamson...UNC has faced a total of about 30 seconds.

Yes, the bloated conferences have produced a lopsided schedule...I'm all for playing everyone..home and on the road then you get a true champion.

Ill be extremely disappointed if Zion misses the unc game. It’s absolutely ridiculous to say he’s not in good enough shape after missing just two weeks. The injury was very minor and imo wasn’t as bad as was ever thought. I think Zion was just more shocked at what happened and got scared when it happened. He should’ve played limited minutes tonight. He doesn’t have to go all out, but let the dude ease his way back into the game. Even if it’s just limited minutes, he’s fine enough to play. Heck he was jumping up and down pretty hard at the Syracuse game

Reid Travis had a very similar injury that occurred prior to Zion’s. He’s still out. Before we give too strong of an opinion from our couch let’s consider that too. Assuming Zion comes back and I absolutely believe he will, let’s give a little trust to the coaches/medical staff that are around him on a daily basis to help guide him through this process.

Just because everyone with an opinion has created their own “reasonable” timeline, myself included, doesn’t mean any of them are accurate. For the first time since Zion went down Coach K gave us a small peek behind the curtain and gave us a little context as to when we’ll likely see him back. Just because we really want him back for UNC doesn’t mean it is the right decision.

Chov spot-on. K is with the guys everyday AND lest we forget, surrounded by the best medical personnel in the world at Duke University. Am I frustrated, angry, etc- sure, but thats just the pure TRUE BLUE FAN in me.....However at the end of the day I know K and the Duke medical folks know best.

Zion is a tremendous, once in a decade D1 athlete playing for the highest profile basketball school in the country. Everyone know that. He stuffs arenas. He's tripled the price of tickets everywhere he plays. Eight gazillion social media followers. He's a human highlight reel. Nobody can wait to see what he's going to do next on the floor. People who never watch college sports know who he is.

There is bound to be an absurd amount of speculation, concern, hype, turmoil, frustration, etc around this situation. I am guilty of all of the above. He has an injury with an uncertain timeline for recovery, and as fans we don't like the unknown. The fact that we have looked shaky at times without him on the court just adds to the concern.

Could you imagine the ramifications if he came back too soon and compounded his injury? What would that do to Duke's reputation and to future recruiting??

I am going to make a concerted effort to be patient, trust the staff, trust the process, and trust that Zion will be back on the court soon. Ain't gonna be easy, but I'm gonna' try o_O.

Let's go Duke!

I don't have even a small concern that Zion isn't coming back. K has very definitively stated as much, so that debate shouldn't even exist.

What is very concerning is what the missed time is costing the team. There are some tangible things it has cost them: no ACC 1 seed, a very real shot and not getting a 1 seed in the NCAAT (I think getting one requires a win Saturday or a ACCT championship, two extremely difficult tasks under the circumstances). But beyond that, Duke is losing unbelievably valuable time to continue to coalesce and evolve as a full team. As K said in the presser, they will close their ACC season with a full team having played exactly half of the ACC schedule. Being so young makes that an even bigger hurdle, as that time together is absolutely paramount. Another direct quote from the presser: "We don't have it."

I know this team when fully assembled is very capable of cutting down the nets, and that is very exciting. But the reality is that road gets tougher and tougher the longer they go without that full squad evolving together again. I'm not being a downer, I am just voicing some concerns I have.

Those are all valid, rational concerns. We all share them, one way or the other.

I agree with everything you are saying. Something has happened with this group and I cannot put my finger on it.

It’s depressing when almost every year you expect one of your top guns to get hurt. It’s inevitable. Besides the marshall injury I can’t really recall an important UNC player going down.

After it was apparent that Zion would be back at some point. I completely changed my mindset and accepted the fact that this team was going to have some struggles. But as long as he is back for the tournament, the ultimate goal will still be achievable. Not that I am not frustrated by poor performances, just that I understand that they won't get in the way of the big picture.

I know Lawson didn't play in the game at Dean Dome against us in 2008. We beat them that night. That would have been his 32-game season.

In 2009, I think he missed the ACC Tournament and the first game of the NCAAT....bad ankle, or maybe toe, IIRC. The only reason I know he missed the first NCAAT game is because I drafted him in my players pool that year.
