Oh no! I'm surprised Gene didn't break this news to all of those fans in the Bible Belt. That is almost as bad as us hiring a Scientologist! haha. Welcome to St. Joseph's Coach Dan.

Fr. John is still at St. Joe's. He is a great young priest and is very involved in campus life. He is also very passionate about Bulldog Athletics, I love when a priest starts mass by talking about the game the day before! He is very welcoming to alumni like myself from out of town who attend mass the morning after we lose and he says "I understand your frustration"... Hopefully those days are behind us!

I know the Kang wasn't Catholic, but I think he did have a priest as chaplain. I believe he was at St. Joe's in the early 90s.

He would purposely come in 5 mins late, and leave right after communion so he wouldn't have to speak to the commoners. Our priest became the team chaplain, and he was also awarded a 2003 National Championship ring. Inform your priest that team affiliation has its advantages.

Friends of mine in Oxfart said you never heard a peep out of his kids in mass, I wouldn't make a peep either if that crazy bastard was my father.

hate to admit that but damn it, it is true. now, he would get to do a lot of traveling with the team if he wanted and free food is a good dream to have.

so that he wouldn't get mobbed every time he went to church? chuck norris does the same thing at his church in the dallas area. (that's right, even chuck norris does not have byrne-like ninja skills)

but he made sure he wouldn't have to "talk shop" with anyone. I sat by him once- he wasn't very generous with his "granting one another the sign of peace" either. I remember him telling a story (shortly before he left for Miami) about "someone at mass telling me to keep my head up after our 9-2 season."

As far as Scientologist, those guys apparently have a good line of **** for recruitng, evidently Carroll is a member of cool modern Oprah-Obama style "temple of worship" in LA. I have no proof of this other than an angry UCLA posting.
