I have a friend who operates the camera on top of the M Club for the HD board. He said last night he was in the M club wrapping up the production and said that Coach Mullen and Stricklin were both there. He watched the Liberty bowl officials approach Stricklin and Mullen and heard them say:

"We are ready to makeMississippi Statean offer to come playin theLiberty Bowl. We would love for Mississippi State to return to Memphis and set another new record in Liberty Bowl attendance." -They were interupted in mid sentence by coach Mullen with a loud and stern NO! "We are not signing anything until after the season...I believe my team has better places to be."

When I asked what Stricklin did...my bud said he just stood there with a grin on his face.

Take it for what it is worth...

Lose next Saturday and we're very likely in Liberty. Only other hope would be for Tennessee to lose to UK. If Tenn wins next week, look for Music City to be all over the Vols. Taking care of business is our first task. Then, we have a good shot somewhere like ATL.

They can't 'make an offer' until the other bowls have picked. I have no doubt they would prefer us though. A rematch with those douches from central Florida would suck all of the excitement out of the bowl season for me. We need to pull like hell for Kentucky and also GT next weekend. Also need LSU to beat arky so they stay in the BCS picture.

They did it last night. There is no rule stating that bowl officials can't make their offers before the end of the regular season. Its called being the early bird and getting who you want to play in your bowl.

But you are right...if we ended up there, I would be sick. I know that sounds cocky or unappreciative, but the Liberty Bowl sucks. The opponent sucks, the venue sucks, and the city sucks.

7-2. Ranked in the top 20. Get an off week. THEN.....

1.Tragic loss of a great young man.
2.Cam Newton **** blows up.
3.MSU slandered by virtually every media outlet in America.
4.Have to play at Alabama.
5.Lose yet another game to Arkansas. This one in painful fashion.
6.See Bumphis and Smith limp off the field.
7.Have to go to Oxford and play a team that we should beat the hell out of but likely won't.
8.End up in the Liberty Bowl against the same damn team we played in it 3 years ago.

Hoo-freaking-ray.

I can believe he said we will wait until season end before making a decision.

Stadium, city, and other variables set aside, I DO NOT want to play another ******** CUSA team. Make me stay in Memphis and go to that crappy stadium - fine. I'm just sick of CUSA teams. I want to play a viable opponent that we don't get to see very often. Bring on the Peach, Music City, or Gator...

IM guessing yoknow two schols from thesame state cant play in the Lierty Bowl. But either way, USM has 2 conf losses and UCF has one (to USM). UCF would have to lose to Memphis next week for USM to end up in the conference championship game. You guys have a better chance of being bowl eligible than Memphis has of beating UCF.
