Interesting I would have assumed he would have generated more. But that makes sense.
Unfortunately for the TV ratings they were beholden to Big12 numbers - so while they drove ratings up individually they likely didn’t see any additional benefit for it.

selling out home games would have been a boom for the department - but that is still just 6 games for the entire athletic department.

I would also never underestimate a public university's ability to piss away fiscal responsibility as another contributing factor.

I was listening to sports radio here in Colorado yesterday. The fact is that the athletic department is in bad shape financially, bleeding money. That was a factor in the AD stepping down last week. The new AD will be tasked with fundraising and stopping the bleeding.

Apparently the media darling that is Deion isn’t creating enough revenue to make up for his $10 million salary and a 3-7 record. The takeaway was that he gets grace for this year, but if next year looks like this year, then Deion will be out. This also jives with some things Deion said this week. I got this, I can turn this around. Yadda, yadda.
The biggest constant in CU's athletic program is it has been bleeding money seemingly forever, dating back to the early 80s when they had to cut baseball and other sports. Deion's contract just adds to their woes now that people have figured out that his Louis Vuitton luggage isn't even Samsonite.

Baggage, not Luggage.

All Deion has is baggage.

All three seem valid.

A sidebar CU note, Jeff Sims gets another chance to beat Deion and the Buffs in Boulder this weekend, and atone for his turnover fest performance that killed any chance of an NU win there in 2023.

Weird that they can't scratch together his salary seeing as how his circus generated "3.2 billion" in revenue.

Sounds like someone might be a couple decimal places off in their "estimation".

Media exposure != account balance. They wouldn’t have bought that if they had to pay for it. A free mention on ESPN, or late night, or some podcast doesn’t pay any bills.

Unless Deion pulls off some dramatically good news in the next 3 months, there’s going to be a significant drop off in hype, interest, season tickets, and fan travel. There’s no spring portal to hope for.

So do you remember their AD saying after they announced hiring Prime? He said he didn’t know where they would get the money to pay him.

Down 43-0 to Utah with -18 total yards going into halftime. Utah has 400.Who on here wanted him and Fickell over Rhule again?🤣

Keepin' receipts, yo. I still remember NPR claiming that Coach Prime is disliked because he displays "authentic male blackness" and white America can't handle it. No. He's an egomaniac. That's all it is. Fantastic football player, but he's in way over his head. There are black coaches all over the football world who'd run laps around Deon Sanders. They're just not loud-mouths and showboats, so they aren't in the spotlight. They are all "authentic black males", too.

You completely lost me with "positive role model, and teaching respect."

Do Shady and Hsithead act with respect? I do not think so.Hsithead beat up a high school admin and lost an $11m lawsuit. Is that showing respect?

He could run very fast and is a HOF player, but he does not teach much respect. Hell, he had no respect to others as a star athlete, and is laughable to suggest his style in Boulder was "teaching respect."
He demands his players attend class. He demands they be on time for practice and meetings. He demands they be active in the Boulder community. He does not allow head phones, I pads, or any other **** in his meetings. He mentors players who come from rough environments. Yes his son has had some legal trouble. Yes Shilo has been a disappointment to him. That is life. I am speaking to the good things he is doing with those kids. He is actively teaching those players about life, and they are getting the direction that frankly did not and should have come from those kid's parents.

His kids are straight clowns. He brought in Warren Sapp of all people to "mentor" these kids. Nice mentor. Bankrupt. Jobless. Former addict with a history of using hookers. No coaching resume.

Looks like going 1-1 vs Deion is still going to top Rhule’s very short list of accomplishments at NU after magical Year Three

I admit I could not have been more wrong about coach prime. I thought he would be long out of there by now.
I’m not going to lie, I gained respect for him last year. Dealt with more major health issues, team sucked….he could have left and no one said anything since he had beaten cancer. But he stayed and took the a$$ kickings on the field. Took it like a man.
