I hope he sticks around for 1 more year and then is offered a full time position here. He seems like a good guy and a decent coach, and he's also been a solid recruiter.

So much for the rumors that Tavita is joining the staff at BYU. Looks like he is hot on the recruiting trail for dear ol' Nebraska U.

Where are the rumors? There is enough mumbling that Tavita is not on the road recruiting which I find odd with 2 open spots available.

Have not heard of, or read about, the mumblings you mention concerning his lack of recruiting. Just responding to the above which seemed to imply, on the surface at least, that he was out recruiting.

I have no doubts that you are more knowledgeable than I am about such things so I defer to your thoughts on the matter.

Landof10 is reporting that Tavita was in Oklahoma yesterday visiting Robinson. So we have conflicting reports. I tend to think HOL is more reliable, but what do I know?

Just going by what's being reported by 2 of the 3 recruiting services, they both claim Thompson was not on the road recruiting Thursday. Robinson, the TE from Oklahoma specifically said it was coach Langsdorf, no mention of Thompson.

Ok. Thanks. Did not see this before I just posted again. My guess is then is that it was Langs.

This might be my misunderstanding, but I thought Tavita's time was basically up. Just a short while ago, we were speculating Riley might bring him on board when Reed left and his road trips were kind of a "tryout" right before the dead period. Or at worst, if he was an addition, he'd be the 10th coach this spring.

Doesn't he have one more year as a GA?

Tavita has one more year/season available to stay at Nebraska. Whether he does or not, I have no idea as of this post.

That's what I was hoping to clarify. A month ago, we seemed to believe his time was up unless we hired him.

Now we seem to believe he has another year.
I guess the deeper question is, what do people on here think of him as a potential permanent coach?
Personally, I would rather hire a bigger name who has experience.
