And to be clear, you don't want him fired? Hell, I am with you that I want more tournament success but I, in no way, draw a line in the sand and say Sweet 16 or bust as long as he gets us in the tournament. So what is your take on that?
My question from yesterday.

...is that normally reasonable posters like you get so offended by his trolling that you have to defend all things Stansbury instead of criticizing him when it's due (i.e. the other night) and giving him credit when it's due.

Coach irritates some people so much they take a Gene-like stance on Stansbury out of spite.

Another issue is that most people are happy with Mullen and Cohen so there has to be something to ***** about.

do like he did last time and cry and ***** and beg and whine and plead then finally be forced to write the board an apology and have it stickied up there for two weeks so he can have his name back.

begging or anything of the sort...I was asked to apologize, and I did. Pretty simple

I have not been responding to Coach's trolling.

And the reason I do defend Stansbury is because he deserves it, not out of spite for a message board poster.

And yes I was screaming.

The exact same thing happened with Sherrill. I and a lot of people got so irritated at those saying everything and anything Sherrill was ****, we wound up having to defend him non-stop. Made us appear to be sheep, I suppose.

So, what we have discovered today, is that a lot of the "sheep" we complain about are actually CREATED by the non-stop bitching by the anti-everything doom and gloomers. Interesting, that is.....

He deserves to be defended from trolls on message boards but he doesn't "need" defending to any rationally thinking MSU fan. We all get it. He has the best record of any coach in our history.

no, I do not want him fired. I have never once said we should fire him. Yet.

And I fully know its going to be hard as hell to ever fire him. He is never going to do anything really great( he has had one great season in 12 and he even screwed that one up, mixed in with some good ones), yet is never going to be bad. We are stuck in "basketball purgatory" with him as head coach.

I think Stansbury has gotten the program as far as he can take it. We got to a point with Polk to where just making a regional wasnt enough. Hopefully, we will get to that point with Stansbury. Until that time- we are stuck with head-scratching losses and being a solid SEC program.....

To me it seems like a waste of effort, as C34 isn't trying to have a rational discussion, instead just 17ing with people.

The Bracky Brett episodes a few months back were hilarious.

....not because they are alike, but because of their differences.

Among the many reasons to bash Croom is that he left us with no talent. That lead me to ask, just how many coaches get fired while leaving the roster stocked with average or above average talent?

There are times when a guy clearly is just a recruiter and not a coach.

But are there times when a guy is a decent coach and a great recruiter, but he gets fired not for losing but for not winning enough?

I forgot about that. That whole episode led to one of my favorite farks:

My biggest fear with replacing Stans is what has happened to TAMU in football. They had Jackie before us. Jackie awoke a sleeping giant and let them taste winning for the first time in decades. (like Richard Williams at MSU). They fired him (Jackie at TAMU; Williams at MSU) for off the field issues and replaces him with an assistant (Slocum at TAMU; Stansbury at MSU). the former assistant continues to build the program, but is merely a good to very good coach, and the fanbase gets tired of only almost (making the BCS; Sweet 16). They fire said coach for a "proven winner" (<font size="2" face="Arial">Franchione</font> at TAMU; TBD at MSU). The "Proven Winner" then runs the program into the ground and is fired. Another "Proven Winner" is hired and all the (bowl games; NCAA tourny invites) are long in the past.

You dont want him fired.

But you know he'll never do anything great.

Conclusion. You are ok with the basketball purgatory. Or you arent ok with it and lying about wanting him fired.

Not sure what you are complaining about. Either you think we need to move on to a better coach or not.

i can see how pointless it is.

i did have a good idea for the fark stansbury thread involving C34, but my farking skills are apparently pathetic.

I wanted to blame Stans for giving birth to C34 and show a mother (with Rick's head) giving birth to a douche bottle labeled "Coach 34". Or maybe the mother would've just said "I think I'll name him Coach34". The finished product was so bad, I couldn't post it. Maybe somebody else can bring it to fruition for me.

You, likr coach, seem to pick a position and latch onto it, regardless of what happens.
At one time I thought Jackie Sherrill should remain our coach as long as he wanted. Then his last three years happened. I changed my mind.

You're right. It's pointless. He picks and chooses his battles based on who he knows he can get worked up the most. If you call him out with something reasonable, he'll just ignore you.

He probably doesn't even believe half the **** he says anyhow. He's said it himself, he's just trolling to get people worked up:
...then you are more stupid than the stupid people <span style="font-weight: bold;">I get to respond when trolling during basketball season</span>. - Coach34
Said here

Honestly, reading the typical ***** fest resulting from him criticizing Stans is more entertaining than the average thread. It's funny to see how many people take the crap he spews so seriously. He just needs to come up with fresh material - he's starting to sound like a broken record.

but what about our basketball program makes you think we should be that much better than everyone else in the sec? There are a few certain schools that barely even care about basketball, so I know we should never be at the bottom. However, its not like we have tons of tradition and great facilities.

MSU is never going to take the "next step" in basketball. You guys sound just like Ole Miss fans circa 2004. They, likewise, thought their coach had taken their program as far as he could and wanted to take the next step. Problem is the next step was a huge step backwards. They found out that hiring a coach as good as the consistent winner they had wasn't as easy as they thought it would be. We'll find out the same if we act as they did.

MSU basketball is not going to take a step beyond this one. Making 6 out of 8 NCAAs and competing for SEC and SEC West titles is as good as it gets. Every once in a while we'll be really good and perhaps will go on a good run in the Tourney, but what we have now is probably the best MSU will ever be in basketball. At this point you'll tell me I'm a MSU poor mouther. Let me beat you to the punch by saying I'm not. I believe MSU can be successful, but I also believe in a thing called reality. OM and MSU football will never be more than a 6-8 win team most years with the occasional 10 win season and the occasional 4-5 win season. That's the best either program will do. That's not poor mouthing, that is reality. OM and MSU basketball will never be more than what MSU is now, save we could have made a run or two in the NCAAs. MSU and OM baseball is the sport that we can both be consistently near the top of the pile.

Most of the time you see this used against Stansbury, as in "he only wins the SEC West because the SEC is weak." But, many of these same folks say that hiring a better coach would be easy. Alright, explain the weakness of the conference if it is so easy to hire a better coach than Stans. Why do these programs, most of which have more money and at least as much history if not more so than us, struggle then? Perhaps hiring a good coach isn't so easy.</p>
