Have you updated your basketball coach candidate list lately? I would be interested to see if there is somebody who wants to take over a dying program. I think everybody would agree that Stans isn't the best in game coach, but he continues to abuse Kennedy.

who traditionally has had the SEC's worst program. We have much higher goals than that.

This team still has to win the SEC Tourney to make the NCAA's. We'll see what happens

**edited to add**- But yes, The Recruiter own's ya'lls ***

In the past, you have mentioned several candidates you would like to see take over for Stans. I'm asking you who they were to see if there's a candidate worth firing Kennedy over or whether we should simply blow up Tad Smith with our staff and players inside it. At no point, did I offer any commentary on the state of your program, nor do I give a ****.

and am somewhat disheartened with watching the SEC season now because its become obvious that its just a prepatory time for us going into the SEC tournament since winning that tournament is the only way we get into the NCAAs.

D@A likes Greg Marshall at Wichita State- he is an excellent choice

2 of my favorites are Doug Wojcik at Tulsa and Illinois State coach Tim Jankovich

I think 2 black candidates that are both assistants could be Butch Pierre at Oklahoma St and Tony Jones at Tennessee- although after Tony's 2 games sitting Pearl's seat I may start to re-think it. Pierre looked pretty good as the interim at LSU when Brady was fired and is a known recruiter. Plus, he's a State guy.

I think it could attract some pretty good names. We have good facilities, esp. now with the practice deal, and we sit on a boat load of talent in this state. I bet we could get a lot of interest.

winning the SEC tourney. We can go 12-4 in the SEC. The SEC stinks. Bama didn't even look good to me beating us at home. We just played like crap. Everyone wrote us off too soon. We should be good from here on out.

It is one of the worst in the nation. AK is the opposite of Stans, start out good in non-Conference, then imploded in SEC play. I am not sure if you could get a better coach to come to Oxford and have to play in the Tad Pad...

You're going to need to win 13 or 14 at least and win a couple in the tourney to have a shot at the dance, given your start and the weakness of the conference.

We may be the only West team that could get in as an at large with only 12 conference wins, and we won't get close to that.

I think you're going to have to win the SEC tourney, which is possible, and then you'd get a 13 seed or something.

yet you were hoping for a big loss to our rival to end Stans tenure? So if it doesn't mean anything to win, it shouldn't mean anything to lose, correct?

as of Jan 10th:

RPI:

Tulsa 126 SOS- .5704 52nd in the nation
State 233 SOS- .4687 224th in the nation
Ill St 234 SOS- . 4728 219th in the nation

Ill St is slipping some this season, but has averaged 22 wins under Jankovich
Tulsa has played a pretty good schedule so far

12-4 would put us at 20-10...but with our schedule and the weak West- our RPI would still probably be in the 80-90 range

We either have to win 13-14 games or win the SEC Tourney

I think for us to win the Tourney would be extremely tough also because we have no depth. Lewis, Steele, and Bryant are all we have to sub. Thats not a bench. We dont have another SF to back-up Ravern. Sure do miss Osby...

so what you are saying is they have some losses after playing better teams...seems pretty similar to your argument that stans doesn't win against RPI top 150 (i think that is the number you use).

i don't disagree that stans isn't getting it done. i'm on board. but at least be consistent.

even Kentucky only uses eight players. Maybe Tennessee is deep, but if so thats the only team I can think of.

Wojic can't beat good teams, can't get to the NCAA and has a mediocre record and he's a great coach. Stans rarely beats good teams, but did at least get us in the NCAA on a regular basis until a couple of years ago and he sucks.

State is a BCS program and enjoys all the advantages of that. Primetime ESPN games, all conference games on TV, bigger budgets, Coach's salary 3x the average D-1 coach....We have tons of advantages over the Tulsa's of the world and should perform at a higher level. Given our history the last 20 years, there is no excuse for us to not be a top 50-60 team.

It's harder to recruit and to get players to the Tulsa's, Illinois State's, and Wichita State's of the world
