Jobs that are of could be open a month from now:
Penn St
Florida
Auburn
Florida St
LSU

Then all the schools looking to replace the coach they lost to these schools. I think I’ll be happy to sit this round of coaching hired out.

I’m not convinced Ark will want to “ride” with Petrino. The fans I know are telling me he is an interim at best.

Also, will Kentucky move on Stoops?

I’m assuming Dabo has enough credit to get him through this season.

Yeah. Second tier jobs that could come open, either because they directory coach or lose their coach could include;
UCLA
Indiana
Missouri
Kentucky
Mississippi
Not 2nd tier but possibly Notre Dame
Arkansas

agree about Dabo. I think he hangs on for another year. Especially when they see to competition for the top candidates.

edit. Dang. How could I leave out North Carolina from the 2nd tier jobs that could come open list.

Kiffin gone...
It really looks like if he ever wants to win a national championship he has to leave this year. Too many top jobs coming open. There may not be this many top jobs come open in the next decade. Plus he might not be as hot a commodity then as he is now.

I am thinking VA Tech is in this tier.

Stanford, Oklahoma State, Virginia Tech, Arkansas & UCLA are open as well. That's already over 10% of P4 jobs that are open in mid-October. We could see 25+% of P4 jobs with a new head coach next year once it's all said and done.

I don't think Arkansas will want to keep Petrino. But I think they will look at the coaching landscape and decide they don't want to hop on the coaching carousel this year.

Will depend on how little commitment is required. They're going to make a multiyear commitment to somebody, but if you can get Petrino with a little lower commitment, do you do that? Or do you go compete with a dozen other non-top tier P4 schools to find the next coordinator or G5 coach? I think I roll with Petrino if I'm them unless I think I have an inside track on a promising coach.

That's pretty wild. I wonder what the highest percent ever is.

Going to be some pretty inexperienced G5 coaches or coordinators hired to P4 head jobs this cycle unless there are a lot of retreads.
