What made Morningstar or Big Bob worthy of a spot on a top team? Absolutely nothing. At least the guys I mention have name recognition, something neither M* or Bob ever had.
Yet people want to throw out names of people with WAY less experience. Not sure many people here actually understand the ins and outs of D1
coaching. The amount of work that's done outside the room is triple what it is in the room.

I don’t think anyone could do it. Literally just JB with a huge maybe on Kyle Dake so that’s is a complete misrepresentation.
I don’t have anything left to say to you on the matter because we look at things a lot differently. I’ll be here in a year or two so we can revisit this.
With all these next Iowa head coaches being named, and I say there all great names and I don't know who it will be.
I do know a couple of things.
1. There won't be one named until tnt decide to leave. (Sorry it just is)
2. About 25% will like the pick and back him 100% on every decision
3. About 25% will tell us all how he will fail and everything he's doing is wrong
4. About 25% will love the assistance and how there doing a great job developing and recruiting
5. About 25% will be yelling to replace the assistance and the recruiting guy doesn't know how to bring in top talent.
So the more I look at it, it's about the same as it is now. Morale of story different people same $*** and a whole lot of people complaining or happy.

No chance. The only chance of catching psu is going to be with elite recruits. Pritzlaff appears to be really solid at coaching mid tier guys up but that's not what it'll take to catch the big dogs. Tony Robie, Mike Grey are getting recruits. Rob Kohl could get recruits.

.Robie is an interesting name that deserves a conversation. The other two I don’t think so.
I wasn't suggesting hiring them just that they get recruits, although Tony Robie would be my #1 choice. Rob Kohl is getting up there but if he were younger I'd be all over him if I had an opening. Wouldn't want Grey but he does pull in the recruits.
Your go to in these discussions is “people think anyone can do it” No. We think the greatest modern USA freestyler of all time, who is very personable and kids these days actually watched and look up to can do it. Recruiting has been nothing special for Grey. Especially when Knox and Vega bounced.
HS kids today are looking up to Jax and Spencer and guys like that. When was Burroughs last world medal? Just not sure his name holds the weight you think it does with the HS kids.
He never said he wants to be a D1 head coach . He talks about youth wrestling as well
You either didn’t watch the interview or didn’t pay attention when you did. He’s 100% open to coaching but resources would be a huge part of any job he would be interested in.
It’s still TBD whether NIL GO has any teeth. Plus there’s the “PSU solution” to that problem.

Coaching wrestling isn’t like football or many of the team sports. A big name willing to take on the challenge has a huge advantage right out of the gate and is likely to be a home run, or at worst a triple.
That said, I can’t say I’d be disappointed with Mike Grey. And probably Robie.
