I don't see Mineo posting that, I did see Cradle Zone, and Oklahoma guy, claiming Yianni to INDIANA.

He did.

BTW, I can't see too much coming out of IC today as the SID likely has their hands full with the women's tourney game.

After the weekend Donnie Pritzlaff had hoping he’s available when the time comes. Plus with Rutgers not showing out looks like he’s the big draw.

Might make it more likely now that Amos transfers.

Come to think of it, maybe Fuggit can say "fuggit about it" and transfers out as well. Iowa could use a 133/141 (depending on where Bailey goes)...

Is Hayden Hidlay stepping down at Stanford? I saw an instagram post saying he was but haven’t seen anything else.

Now hear me out….

Create the recruiting coordinator position, move Morningstar there, add Kemerer and Hidlay on staff (ideally with his brother at the HWC) and that would be huge.

Isn't Yianni hurt and out of wrestling for most of the upcoming year?

I would think TNT need someone to roll around with their athletes and not just verbal coaching.

He's likely going to hang it up.

"Rolling around in the room" is drastically different than training and competing. Like night and day. And never mind the instant credibility he would have on the recruiting trail.

Gable retired from competition partially due to injury issues. That seemed to work out OK.

Agree with you on the "rolling around the room and competing are drastically different", but my point was that in the near future having surgery and the associated PT/recovery time before he is even able to roll around the room could be considerable. That is valuable time lost with a coach for current wrestlers working to get better.

You wouldn't hire someone for a coaching job because they *might* not be able fully participate wrestling in the room for a few months? Is that not short term/short sighted thinking?

Perhaps. I am sure that he would be a fantastic coach and could be helping in other ways off the mat during his rehabilitation.

A hobbled Yianni would still make a tremendous impact on our teams scrambling

I would take Yianni and Shapiro in a heartbeat. Only thing Shapiro lacks is mental toughness. We can teach that. If Joy wants to follow him….

Then, go get Fugitt from Wisconsin. I still wouldn’t give up on the Larkins. They are legit and have several seasons left in them.

Garvin isn’t coming to Iowa. But, if Hidlay heads to NC state — he may try to take Knox, Cardenas, Garvin and Norman with him.
Shapiro's issues are not related to mental toughness. He's had a ton of serious head injuries that led to the current issues (I won't get into) that led to his MMFing out. The guy was in a coma (that is not BS) a few weeks before he wrestled last year's tourney and he lost a bunch of weight. The kid is an absolute stud and bad luck and health have held him back.

That sounds good to me.

Yep, they touched on that at NCAAs. That sucks!!

Except this isn't a New York Strip. Finishing 2nd to a dynasty. Being in competition with them, year after year, having multiple finalists and champs throughout the past 15 years. Yes. THAT would be a New York Strip.

Being upset enough to want change is not "incessant whining" - it's a dereliction of the standard. There have been many plans/requests/ideas by persons on this board for change at the top. The administration not doing anything about it is the problem. Tom not doing a better job despite the resources and actual feedback is the problem.

If Tom and the administration want to come out and say that Iowa is NOT in the business of competing for chips every year - then sure, myself and the rest of the fans should calm down on all rhetoric in the opposite.

But until then - feedback of the fans simply pointing out the obvious and wanting change is not the problem.
What's glaring is those defending brands and mediocrity rarely if ever offer a solution of their own
