Can any of our posters who are strong on Xs and Os explain what adjustments we made at halftime on Cockburn? It felt like he was unstoppable during the first half, and not nearly as much of a thorn in our sides during the second.

I'm no expert, but RU put a ton of pressure on him and it seemed like he just made some freshman mistakes. Kid has a beast like future ahead of him.

Also the refs let em play more in the second half, seemingly swallowing their whistles when our D got rough on Cockburn underneath.

We pushed him further away from the basket and when he did get it , we dug down and made him kick it out . Our recovery and close outs where much better too

we had people dropping down on Cockburn when he got the ball...and I think Carter was told to body him more.. don't wait for Cockburn to body you... YOU initiate the contact first. Just a guess.

We closed off the passing lanes to Cockburn so he couldn't get the ball. That left the perimeter more open, but they missed their threes and we rebounded well.

The big guys also made it difficult for him to get a good position on the block. To me that’s the main reason he struggled. When he did get a good position, someone would help.

A lot of doubleteams in the second half. As soon as he caught the ball two players were all over him limiting his options.

Whenever he posted up, we ended up having 2 or 3 guys on or around him forcing him to kick it out to one of his teammates. In addition, Myles and to a lesser extent Carter started fronting him more an not allowing him to get deep in the paint. In the first half he was getting deep in the paint and with Carter on him, once Kofi received the ball that low, it was game over.

In the second half we did a much better job fronting him and double and sometimes triple teaming him.

Illinois is not a good 3 point shooting team like Michigan, OSU, Iowa, Northwestern who killed us in similar spots when we clogged the paint....this was a perfect game to let Illinois try to beat you from 3

2 things also Myles played his best basketball in the second half in a long time and also 2 things he traveled about 4 times in the first half with nothing called and if you watched he just pushes people out of the way and they let that go in the first half and didn't in the second half
