"I was pleased with our comeback tonight," said State skipper
John Cohen. "But we are still a long way from where we need to be. We
just aren't making the plays in situations and we are putting too much
pressure on ourselves, and that is on the coaches."</p>

This weekend is large, we need to win the series.

far too tight and worried about what Cohen is going to say.

from those pesky MSU home fans at the Dude. Putting Polk and Cohen's comments together, I've decided our baseball teams would play much better if they had no coaches and had no fans to show up for their games. Of course, in that case, nobody would care how they played, but they evidently would play better none the less.

I saw a lot of watched strike ones in the game on Sunday too. That confused me because I thought that was something only Polk told players to do.</p>

to date this year. However, we could take all 3 and still be sitting at 3-9 after our weekends with SC and Ark.

has the ability to look at himself critically and adjust. There's a huge difference between saying- The fans put too much pressure on the players and the coaching staff is putting too much pressure on the players.

It probably does stem back from the fact that some of our players are Polk recruits, and many of them simply do not respond that well to pressure, and Cohen is extremely competitive and likes to challenge players. Cohen being more laid back may help them play a little bit better. And I'm not saying this in a derrogatory way about Polk's recruits- some people respond to different things better than others.

Would be really surprised and disappointed is we get swept by both South Carolina and Arkansas. I think we could definately win two out of six, which is not great, but it's better than getting swept six games in a row. Reason being is we have Arkansas at home, and while South Carolina is a good team, they're not as good as usually are. They are in the 20's as far as ranking. Arkansas is actually ranked higher than South Carolina I believe.

all of a sudden become passive at the plate? If I remember correctly, last year the general un-spoken rule seemed to be "Damn a strike! If you can hit it, swing!" Now, we're back to taking pitches, getting in a hole and looking at strike 3. I'm almost expecting to hear "That's baseball" or "Well, we competed hard and worked the pitch counts well" on a postgame broadcast any day now.

some of our players have really bad strike zone judgement. Like Nick Vickerson. I have never seen a guy take so many pitches down the middle of the plate. I mean, down the chute, can't argue about it.
