Avery Geyer. Very good to see us in the Florida Panhandle. There is tons of baseball talent along the MS Gulf Coast all the way through Panama City that is there for the taking. There is no real loyalty there either, especially the Mobile/Pensacola area. If there's another area outside the State of MS that MSU can really get some high level high school talent, that's the place.

why is it so hard to get what type of other offers these guys get? why is it not more like football and basketball? and why is Gene such a miserly 17 with his info? I mean c'mon gene, it's a baseball commit... that stingy ******* doesn't give **** away ever... at least Yancey throws some freebies out once in a while...everything gene does is $$$ ...."in"....tired of that ****...

You can look down their(free) profile and find a numerical evaluation somewhere on most of these guys. All the good PG info is by subscription only though. I believe Todd has an account with them...

They also show no allegience. We have several kids committed who are highly rated. Dale Burdick is highly regarded don't know if he is rated yet. Luke Alexander is rated a 9 as well. Cohen is a closer. Just take my word. If he wants a kid he almost always pulls him in. He will win and win big here.

We have a really good looking class as far as pitchers- Austin Sexton, Vance Tatum, Dakota Hudson, and now Avery Guyer.

He claims that he throws 93- PG had him at 91 and he says that he can throw four pitches.

Really, the only knock on him I see is his size- but with his velocity, I'm not concerned about it too much.


And yes, the Florida panhandle is ripe with talent. (Take that as you will)

No doubt in my mind. Both Perfect Game and Baseball America have us tabbed as Omaha-bound next season...

Will be VERY interested to see how we respond as a team to playing as favorites. Hasn't really happened under Cohen yet, and the guys he's recruited seem to be at their best with their backs against the wall. It's an entirely different dynamic and mindset when you go from being the underdog to the one everyone is gunning for...

I think one thing that will help with that is we will have a veteran team next year- and hopefully a healthy one.

We also have some things to play for and accomplish. In my mind, we underachieved a little bit- and sure, it may have been because of things out of our control, but still you want to play up to your potential.

I think our hitting will be better. And I think our pitching will continue to be pretty good- even though losing Stratton was big.

We have the potential to host a regional at the very least next year.

We return every position starter besides Brent Brownlee who was hurt 75% of the time anyway. We may be able to plug a freshman or two in the lineup if need be such as Jacob Robson, Nick Flair, or Daniel Garner. All we really have to do is figure out who our second baseman is and if those freshman are better than who is currently starting. At worst we've deepened our bench which is an improvement- anyone remember Luis Pollorena having to pinch hit and play the outfield? Yep.

We've proven that we can play with anyone in the SEC and we can usually win a series over a team that is not as talented as us and have a good chance of winning a series over a team that is comparable to us. What we have to do is consistently beat the Florida's and South Carolina's and maybe even the LSU's even though we went 3-2 against them last year.
