"Mark doesn't have the bunt sign and he bunts. He says he just wanted to get it done for the club, well, we aren't interested in your opinion, we're interested in doing what the coaches tell you to do.

Last year Goforth would have gotten a hug and a cookie.

I like the fire, but no reason to publicly throw the kid under the bus. Whatever though.

Personally, I have no problem holding a 21 year old man accountable for his actions. Especially if he disobeyed the coach.

Good thing he isn't a kid. You might have point if Cohen did that to a 12 year old after blowing the Little League State Tournament.

But its ok for Shepard to bunt on his own in the bottom of the 9th, down by a run with nobody on after he has already hit two HR's in the game?

Fairly certain Shepard and a couple of others had the green light to bunt whenever they thought they could reach first. He may have felt like he had a better chance to get on with a drag bunt than hit another HR..but again I think Cohen lets his smarter players make some situational decisions.

I'm OK with that to a degree- but if I were Cohen, I do with he would make them have some stipulations- like no bunting on your own when we are behind.

And that's just me- I typically don't like bunting when behind because to me, when you bunt, you are essentially giving away an out unless the other team screws up or it's a really good bunt.

Yet Austin Peay was pissed off when we bunted and ahead. I don't see the difference. Isn't it giving away an out almost either way?

was the third baseman playing back? We needed a run to extend the game, so depending on circumstances, one of your fastest players bunting for a base hit is the right thing to do many times.

and nobody on. We lost 5-4 in 10 innings.

ETA: Off of the same pitcher in the 8th, Shepard homered and Vickerson singled.

other than the obvious fact that we were ahead vs being behind in this instance. And that's why I didn't get why Austin Peay was upset. If you're trying to run it up on someone in baseball, you're not going to start laying down a bunch of bunts. Heck, if I was them I would have been happy.
