Polk thinks even less of him than he does of Cohen***

Of course, that hasn't stopped Garrido from becoming the winningest college coach of all time...with how many titles?

I never said there isn't a time to show your ***. In the special they showed the first clip and said that he rarely raises his voice but when he does he gets his moneys worth. My son has played for coaches that only motivate by yelling. They yell so much, like Cohen, that he tunes them out and all he hears blah blah blah.

If you have to go with Madden (won a World Series at Tampa Bay!), or Garrido (winningest of all time) in order to explain why you dislike Cohen......then you will NEVER be happy with anybody. Cohen's style is different, but come on, have you ever played for a guy like Cohen? Or played at all? I would have killed to play for a guy that competes and cares as much as Cohen. Not to say other approaches don't work as well or better, but just bc it's different doesn't mean it can't be as effective or more effective long term as the two you mentioned.

you did a ****** job raising your son.

[see, that was me using your f'n ****** logic to prove a point. I don't know **** about you or how you raised your son. But it didn't stop me from pointing out your fatherly attributes as ******. Maybe since I don't know **** about your fathering ability, or your son for that matter, I should probably just shut the f@ck up about it].

You can do better than this. You mean to tell me that you don't personally know some former players who played under Cohenand can't stand him? You should go with that, it sounds better and it seems to be the most popular anti-Cohen thing going.***************************

And I like that kind of style. These are NOT minor leaguers. I want a Pete Rose kind of player that plays his 17n *** off and doesn't take any ****.

Like someone nicknamed him here on SPS as the INTENSE BASTARD. Loved Cohen's style as a player. Love his coaching style even more.

Well if they're too 17'n dumb and/or lazy not to get the point the first few times you yell at themthen they are going to be failures at life no matter what.

are tuning Cohen out. They play hard as hell out there on the field. He let Norris stay out there long enough to make 3 errors in one game- I'd say that's being pretty damn patient.

You brought up Garrido because you saw something on him- but had no idea these rants existed. It just goes to show you- no matter the program, this is big boy baseball and not just some activity. If guys cant handle someone getting on their ***, they need to get out of the sport.

and gives pats on the back for those backwards K's, probably a hug if they strike out swinging, and a week off practice if they get a hit.**

What is up with all these people that can't handle an intense coach. Hell I thrived off of intense coaches and it made me feel like the other guys were just happy to be there when they were so laid back. Cohen is intense when he gets pissed, and he has a reason to get pissed every time that he does.

I have said it for years, but I think I read someone on here post about the pussification of America and 18-22 year old men that can't handle or get their feelings hurt by an intense coach when they 17 up is a prime example. 17ing **** is going to get youth football banned.

Fans get frustrated when the coach does not seem to get pissed off over a loss. Croom,Polk, and Stansbury just never seemed to get upset over losses and that drove me nuts. I want to see a coach that cares even if he does express it with four letter words.

I have had some doubts about Cohen but one thing I do not doubt is his ability to get his players to play hard. It is a freaking miracle what he has done this year with the youth and injuries on our team.

You admit that we are having success. You also say that you will not like Cohen no matter how much success he has.

So, if we won a National Championship, you still wouldn't like John Cohen?

Yes, you are entitled to your opinion, but you sound pretty closed minded to me.

But I do love that you said that he should be more like Augie Garrido.

And it's hilarious that you're bitching about Cohen and praising Garrido in the same post. We desperately needed a coachwho coaches the wayCohen does. My only problem in the world with him is his hitters are even worse than Polk II hitters were. I hope that changes real soon.

it stated that he rarely shows his *** but when he does he gets everyones attention. Look I want to win them all not just this week-end and I don't think that in the long run that you can be successful in baseball unless you can get your players to play loose. Intense is good sometimes but being intense all time is called being an *******.

I don't that he can when a NC. I made the statement so that when we fall short of our lon term goals no one can say I was fine with Cohen when we were winning.

The only problem I have with Cohen is Nick Mingione and his bush league behavior. The stuff he does reflects poorly on cohen and he's lost a lot of respect from coaches because of it.

I mean, if you don't like him that's fine, but for goodness sake come up with a better reason why. So far you've used a documentary on Garrido first, then you said bc you want to be able to say you never liked him if we don't succeed, and now you're posting this bc you "hate when people say where are the Cohen bashers now"???? Seriously? Maybe you should quit putting so much stock into what this board thinks of you.

ALL top coaches in college baseball today have the a-hole gene in them. Its how they got to the top. How often they show it is up for debate...

Think Bianco is a nice guy? Think he won't cuss a mf in the dugout? You've lost your mind. I've personally known too many people that played for him. Cohen isn't all that much different of a coach.

Good "ahole" coaches put more pressure on you in practice than you could ever hope to see in a game. With a little maturity and 1-2 years of practicing "the right way", they can literally turn you into a machine.

I'm sorry we no longer have Ron Polk patting them on the back for falling miles short of our expectations.
