Seems like there's a lot of people saying let's wait and judge Cohen on next year. What does Cohen have to do next year to convince you that he's the man for the job long term???

If not we had better get to Omaha, or look really damn good in the Super Regional. Losing a road regional in 2013 means losing your job

To keep his job for 2014? Make it to a regional anywhere. Can't fire him if he goes to a regional, even on the road. Just like Stans would have kept his job if we had made the tourney at any seed.

Must host next year to reaffirm my faith. Make a regional he gets 2014.<div>
</div><div>His record in he SEC is abysmal and he has won 8 SEC series out of 35.</div>

But the fact of the matter is if we keep going to the postseason, Cohen is going to stay.

than making the tourney in basketball.

If we go to a regional on the road next season, the season where we are supposed to be amazing, and then dont look competitive in that series then I would hope for a change. 5 years is enough to prove your worth at the level Mississippi State baseball requires.

Again it all comes down to results.
Hosting a regional means that we have had a great season with lots of SEC wins. Therefore if we host and lose that regional, Cohen's dominance of the SEC over the course of a season shows that he knows what he's doing and should stay.

Going on the road to a regional shows that Cohen hasnt made the jump to winning in the SEC and now requires that he show his worth in the postseason.

You can host and lose and keep your job. You can go on the road and win and keep your job. But you cant go on the road and lose. I hope this is the same expectations of most people. Hopefully we can host and win and make a road trip to Nebraska

as compared to basketball. However, there is no way Stricklin fires any coach after he makes NCAA postseason play, no matter the sport. And neither would I.

Say like #17, or #15 but get shafted because the committee wants regionals in the North too, and we get a 2 seed and take a national seed down to the wire and lose, you'd want Cohen gone?<div>
That's absurd. Under the assumption that we make a regional this year and don't win it, you would fire Cohen after 3 straight regionals, one of which included a Super? You just can't do that, even if we're a 3 seed again.</div><div>
</div><div>Maybe you'd fire him after 5 straight 3 seeds if we didn't win another one and it was clear that Cohen would never advance. But as long as he has us in the postseason, it's going to be hard to fire him. Nobody outside of Starkville cares that we were good in the 1980s, and neither should we.</div>

Under the assumption my ***-We are not making **** this year, and losing pitching, next year we aren't making **** with the bunt or die offense we roll with.

Dont be an ignorant ***. Obviously my point was that if he doesn't show that he can win in the SEC then he must advance in the postseason. Being ranked 15th or 17th means that he has proven that he can win in the SEC. Next year its time to put up or shut up and throughout the course of the season and postseason we will know if he has put up or not. Its not based on what-if scenarios that QuaorasKing drums up a over a year in advance.

If he passes the eye test on improving the team then he will stay, which was the overall idea of my post.

In its own right... No offense. We own every postseason attendance record= more money for NCAA. If we are in the top 20, we are a shoe-in to host. Probably on the bubble @ around #25...

Regardless of what anybody thinks this team will never host a regional. We are not even on the same playing field with some teams, and we struggle with ****** teams. Wait till the pitching is gone, hopefully next year the sec can implement the 10 run rule as bad as mother17ers are gonna break us off.

Since we have been 10-runned so many times this year.

Glad you've paid attention to Lindgren and Woodruff on the hill as freshmen too. O noes, the sky is falling!!!

Show me one single team that has run us off the field this year? Just one? One non-competitive series?

But hey, the sky is falling. Seriously.

I hope all of you running your mouths right now are ready to eat crow... Just like you did after the sec tourney meltdowns from last year and 2007, both of which i was on the record predicting that we'd make a run.

When the bright lights come on, this team will shine, and once again prove alot of people wrong. I'm calling it right now, at the lowest point of this young season.

The NCAA doesn't care about that anymore when assigning regionals. Just look at how they've been distributed lately. I agree that if we're a top 16 team it's very unlikely that we'll be the one selected not to get one, but if we're #20 we definitely won't, much less #25. Not long ago Arkansas (who has outdrawn us for years now) was a 1 seed and didn't host. The committee won't treat us differently.

But I don't think the NCAA receives any additional money based on attendance. When we put in a bid for the super regional in 2007 we bid the maximum...and so did Clemson. I think the max bid that year was $176,000. It would make logical sense to give us one if we were close to deserving it because of attendance but I'm not sure that's how it works. Hosting regionals has more to do with being legit and not having regionals close together and also not having too many host sites from the same conference.
