It better be a damn big splash if they are just planning on waiting until then. If the guy is ready now then announce him now, but if you wait until friday with a mediocre hire then you are pissing into the wind.

The more i think Thursday announcement will work out well. It will give the new guy a chance to make some recruiting phone calls, meet some people and then go watch the MS/AL game and shake some hands in his crisp new ride.
It key though that he talks to our commits before that game (not even sure how many we have )

He should win the Frank Broyles award tonight. He gets national media attention tomorrow, we announce him Thursday. That would ne nice.

Wilson a finalist: Oklahoma offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson is among five finalists for the Frank Broyles Award, given annually to college football's top assistant coach.

The winner will be announced Dec. 9 in Little Rock. Utah defensive coordinator Gary Andersen, TCU defensive coordinator Dick Bumpas, Ball State offensive coordinator Stan Parrish and Florida defensive coordinator Charlie Strong are the other finalists.

With OU's conversion to the no-huddle and the Sooners' record-breaking productivity, OU head coach Bob Stoops can't imagine anyone having a better year than Wilson.

"Heck no," Stoops said. "Everyone should understand why. When you look at what we've done offensively, it's just incredible."

Wilson previously was a Broyles finalist at Northwestern in 2000, the same year former Sooner assistant Mark Mangino won it.

i read that while at lunch. it was on the front page of the paper... kinda defeats the purpose of the athlete's "showing off their skills for prospective schools" though, huh?

Yea makes no sense. Why risk getting seriously hurt if no one is there to see you play. I know the media will be there all but still. I guess it more or less lets those guys who feel like they are underrated show off their skills against the big boys.
