Let me just say first that I truly believe that we have the best, most compete roster and team in the country. We also have 5 seniors in our top 7-8 players, possibly top 6. I can’t remember the last time we had 5 productive seniors on a roster. Cal always does really well when he has a mix of talent and experience.

As far as our main competition goes. I think for sure you must include the cheats and Houston most likely. Gonzaga is going to have a good team, but not nearly as good as their last two. I don’t see them advancing to a F4 anyway. All of UCLA, KU and duke will be good. Creighton and Baylor are expected to be solid. A team that I really think is gonna be excellent is Arkansas.

Speaking of SEC teams, there will be at least 6 real good NCAAT caliber teams in the league: Kentucky, Arkansas, Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee and Texas A&M IMO. Also think Florida has a decent shot at being a NCAAT team. SEC is loaded again this year. We will be battle tested and just might have the most difficult schedule in the nation. I think we will be SEC champs when the dust settles.

My biggest is will always be our team preparation, sense of urgency, and seriousness. Calipari is always his teams biggest issue when you’re talking about closing out. He’s not a good floor coach and to win a title the team that usually does is the one that makes the least amount of mistakes. We don’t prepare well, it’s an unorthodox system, and I just don’t think it’s the best recipe to cut the final net down. Before I worry about anyone else, I worry about this. It’s not a bash post I’m just calling it how I see it.

Calipari would vote for Bill Mauer over Ronald Reagan, tell you it’ll be fine, and head to practice with that same mindset. Not a political post just making the point that he shoots from the hip and is too care free. Then he doesn’t question any decision and learns nothing. He’s a powerful coach in this game but when we’re talking about winning the LAST GAME, it’s going to be tough with a guy like this as we’ve already seen.

I like Baylor and Houston quite a bit. UNC could be great or could be like UCLA was this year. Zags will be strong.

Yeah that roster was terrible in performance but looked solid on paper. Askew is just not a good basketball player. Or if he is he hasn’t shown it. One of Cal’s strengths is building a decent roster. But he whiffed that year. Happens. He still should have done better than 9 wins though. Even 13-12 would’ve been “ok”. Every great team and coach has a a season they wish they could just forget. That one is Cal’s.

In retrospect with KU taking the all-time wins lead of course going 13-12 would’ve been a big help but if I said 13-12 is okay to my mom and dad for UK basketball they would have washed my mouth out with soap and got the belt out!

Yeah but compared to that hot garbage it would’ve been better. It’s inexcusable but even above .500 given all the other crap going on would’ve at least been understandable. Good roster doesn’t turn out to be so. No fans, constant Covid testing, yadda yadda yadda. Nobody but Baylor looked really good. Just a wacky year. But to only get 9 wins outta those highly ranked (over ranked tbf) guys was Cal’s worst job ever.

Lucky hero ball for UNC in tournament last year. It caught up to them, Love especially against KU. Houston is about a lock to the final 4 as anybody. Those guys are tough and will not beat themselves. Creighton is a dark horse. Pretty much everyone back. Good transfer, didn't lose anyone to portal. Good point guard play and rim protection. Zags are pussies. Cats are favorites right now.

Personally Im hoping lady luck is on our side this year.In the past our seasons have been derailed by bad calls,health issues or other issues that the team really can't control. Of course those things could been over come but they sure didn't help.

Now that Cal is one of the last HOF coaches of his age group maybe he will get the coach K treatment. If so lady luck might be a uk fan this year and the next couple of years.

Keeping this group healthy is the biggest concern I have. Honestly I wasn't overwhelmed with what I saw last night. Reeves, Wallace and Livingston looked
very good the rest remain to be seen. Oscar limping around didn't do much for my confidence either. This will be a fun team to watch but I'm not ready to crown them just yet.. They say the right things but can/will they do the right things. Let
them get pushed around and see if they push back

Oscar is on day two of recovery. He has to be on crutches for three days. And as anyone who has had surgery can tell you day three post op is the worst. He’s going to be good for the season opener.

We’ve seen what Theiro is capable of. As well as Toppin. We’re in great shape. I’m not crowning is either but we’ve got depth unlike last year. When Grady went flat we didn’t have another solid shooter. If R33v3s is off, we got CJ. If they’re both off Livingston and Toppin can hit a few to get us going.

I like this team.

Gonzaga looks awfully good on paper. If that SG transfer is as good as advertised, they will be a tough out. UCLA looks solid but will depend on how good Bona is at C. UNC has most of their team back plus the transfer Nance.

Yeah we lost about 8 games it seemed by 5 points or so. At least it seemed like it I’ve tried to purge that season from my mind.

Collins I’m not quite sure of yet either. But Toppin was kicking St Pete’s ***. And then Cal mystery sits him for the entirety of the second. Must be something in UK coach’s blood to stop doing what is working. He and Stoops both do it.
