With all of the conversations about how we did, i have examined CFM, and the following is what was found:

1. Arkansas -once a mid level program is flat out struggling. Their current class versus theri 4 year moving average is -14 spots. 4year avg is 24.
2. Tennessee- Their current class versus 4 year moving average is -20 spots. 4 year team average is 11.
3. Alabama-they went -3 on their 4 year moving average. Their 2012 class was number 1, and 4yr team rank is 1.
4.LSU-they are -1 on current class vs 4yma. 4 year team average is 4.
5. aTm-they are a +12 current class vs 4yma. 4 year team average is 19.
6. Georgia is a 0 4yma. 4 year team average is 9.
7.Univeristy of Ole Miss- They are a +12 4yma. Their 4 yr team average is 23.
8. Auburn- they are a -10 current class vs 4yma. and their 4 year team average is
9. Mississippi State- we are a +13 current class vs 4 year moving average. our 4 year rank is 31.
10.Vanderbilt-they are +33 current class vs 4yma. 4 year rank is 58.
11. USCe-they are a -11 current class vs 4yma. 4 year rank is 16.
12. Missouri-they are +3 current class vs 4yma and 4 year rank is 34.
13.Kentucky- they are -5 cc vs 4yma and 4 year rank is 42.
14.Florida- they are +6 cc vs 4yma and 4 year rank is 8.

The good news is the only team that moved up higher in rankings according to the Football Matrix is Vanderbilt with +33. MSU next at +13, UOM at +12,Tam at +12, Florida at +6.
Also good news is that Arkansas is -25 and TN is -29, USC is -11 and Auburn -10.

What this tells me is that our recruitng is getting much better and above the curve vs the conference. Granted Alabama, LSU, Florida, and Georgia had very high ranked classes so they cannot move up many spots.

MSU is improving at a current better rate than Ark,Kentucky,Missouri,Tennessee, and at basically same rate as UOM.

WIth that said, i think we did very well.

Very interesting perspective and hard to argue against, but I'm sure the Bears will try.

Thanks for posting this man. It's interesting.

I think it shows that while we may not be higher than 10th in the SEC recruiting rankings this year, we are definitely moving up the National Rankings. Not to mention we added some teams to the league, and we have narrowed that talent gap with several teams (Auburn, Arkansas, Tenn) that have traditionally been ahead of us on yearly talent. Now days, nearly every SEC team is in the top 30 in recruiting, so we have to at least consider that. And while I know that's the league we play in so we don't need to be ranked in the bottom of the SEC....we also have to keep in mind that the SEC is not spread out throughout the top 50 anymore. Everyone is bunched near the top of the National rankings.

So while we may be 10th...the gap between 1 and 10 is not nearly as wide as it used to be. When 10th in the SEC is 20th in the country...you're still tightening that gap, and I think we will begin to see a more balanced conference in the coming years because all of the nation's top talent is in this one league. It may hurt the league when it comes to having that 1 dominant undefeated team every year, but the conference as a whole should be getting stronger than ever. Just look at how OM, MSU, and Vandy are doing in recruiting right now as an example.

Well done. This is one of the most interesting things I've read here in a while. This metric shows that there is obvious progress in our recruiting compared to our peers, and progress is all we can really ask for.

Very interesting, and I suspect is pretty accurate. That's pretty close to how I would look at the programs from a layman's standpoint. Don't know why Ole Miss people would argue about it. That was pretty much a gratuitous shot of form, with little substance. That's ok, though....I did laugh! :)

Another point too: In golf, it's much easier to go from 90 to 80 than it is to go from 80 to 70. In recruiting, it's much easier to go from 80 to 50 than it is to go from 40 to 10. Since we were already fairly high compared to most of the 120 Division I FBS teams, it's really hard to improve a lot further.

Thought the Bears were ranked in the Top 5. I'd heard #2.
