Gents - I'm running a college football pick'em league this year for my older brothers' charity.? The charity is called Hunting for Heroes and information regarding it is at the bottom of this message.
The pick'em league setup is as follows:
$50 entry free ($10 to charity and $40 to prize pool)
League is setup in yahoo (fantasysports.yahoo.com)
You'll need to "Join a Private" league.? Enter League ID# 1290 and the password is hero.
There'll be around 15 to 20 games each week to choose from, using confidence points and I'm dropping your worst week for the final standings.
There'll be weekly winners paid out (high score each week gets a payout) and there'll be end of the year payouts (somewhere between 1 and 8 and 1 in 10 will probably be paid).? All payout announcements will be made on the message board the first weekend of the games once I have a finalized total of participants.
All other rules and how to payout are listed in the "Commissioner's Note" on the front page of the league.
There'll be over 1000 people invited to this league, so hopefully we can build up a huge pot.? I'd love to see over 100 people in here and have $4000 to payout!? There were a few people who particpated in the H4H NCAA Tournament bracket challenge and enjoyed the experience.? If you do happen to sign up, please include [SPS] on the end of your name so we know where you came from.
In regards to the charity...? it's called Hunting for Heroes.? The charity was started by my older brother in November of 2010.? After being a police officer (now ATF agent) he noticed that as officers were injured on the job, they were basically ignored by the police force post injury.? He started this charity in order to keep those injured officers as part of the "police family".? This past April, Matt Crosby (picture below - quadriplegic) harvested a turkey in central Missouri on the first hunt for the charity.? The money that was raised was put to use to bring him and his family, as well as pay for the specialized equipment, to the hunt.? Matt was injured in St. Louis when during a routine traffic stop, the driver of the vehicle opened fire on him.

Not only does the charity offer hunts for these fallen officers, it also offers counseling services to the entire family to help them deal with the lifestyle change that comes along with a debiliating injury.
The charity is starting to garner national attention as well.? In about 3 weeks, officers from Virginia, New York, and Pennsylvania are being flown to Missouri to participate in the first annual Dove Shootout.? You can also listen an interview on the NRA Radio station on XM Radio below.
