I know this is a high school board but I figured someone here would know. I was watching a college game I recorded the other day and noticed that on kickoffs, the receiver signaled for a fair catch around the 5 or 10 yard line, and the offense started at the 25. Huh? I thought the ball was placed at the spot where the catch was made.

Kick offs can be fair caught inside 25 and placed as a touch back. Seems like most ST coaches aren’t treating it any differently, most are still trying the return.

NCAA is trying to eliminate the high-speed collisions.

From their "duh" department - fewer injuries occur during kickoffs that result in touchbacks than on kickoffs that are returned.
