It is hard to say now, but I might have to say Collins brings more strengths to the table than Manny did last year. I am thinking mainly in terms of recruiting experience and connections to big programs like Bama and GT. Ultimately, of course, this will come down to on-the-field production. At the moment, I love this hire and it came at just the right time.

Mullen appears to have hit another homer.

I think Diaz had a bit better background coaching under Andrews and a little more experience. They both exhibit an ability to execute a one-year turnaround of a defense, which is awesome. Diaz's personality is a huge factor in him becoming a favorite amongst fans too, we don't know much about Collins in that regard. <div>
</div><div>Other than the offensive way his parents decided to spell the name "Jeff", I think this is an outstanding hire.</div>

Hard to say. There were times this year where our defense seemed downright awful but at the end of the game we did not give up alot of points which of course is the bottom line. We were very fortunate in some games that the other team imploded inside the red zone ( ie UGA, UAB, and Florida) I don't know if that whole bend but don't break scheme was due to Diaz or to the personnel that we had but it worked out in the end.

that Manny hand picked him. Dan learned his lessons on retreads with Torbush, Nutt will eventually learn that lesson I think.

Just look at the hiring of D Lee. There is nothing more retread than that.

But my excitement level for this hire is pretty similar to the Diaz hire. I don't think this is a good hire, I thinkit's a great hire.

He brings solid coaching and outstanding recruiting to the table.

I don't remember seeing much about Diaz's recruiting accomplishments last year. I hope his *** is in a vehicle on his way to Philly, MS right now.

Totally agree with everyone, it is way too early. I loved Manny's philosophy. He helped dramatically change the culture of the program. Diaz had a great personality and was really driven. I think we will see similar great qualities in Collins. It is certainly a phenomenal hire. Mullen never ceases to amaze me. Go Dawgs!

*I think recess will be a whole lot of fun this coming school year.

has been at TSUN before and has been at Arky on three different times, two with theright rev. This will be his thirdrodeo with Nutt, so he can't make any excuses ... he undestands the drill. Nutts now has someone he can blame with the O goes downhill.

Lee marks the third OC at TSUN (fourth if youcount Markuson) in the past three years.

Kinda disappointed we didn't pick up Ron Cooper again. Oh well... I guess I'll just have to live with a coach who seems to know what tha hell he's doing. </p>

is that Manny may be a little bit better at X's and O's and in game adjustments, but Collins is the better recruiter.

May be totally off base.

Love the hire, and think that we did a great job, though.

It really is an outstanding hire andMullen has definitely proven that knows what the hell he's doing. He just hired another respected, youngdefensive coach who just happens tocoach LBs and is known as a recruiter. Ironically, the (arguably) best player in MS (CJ) decommited because he was comfortable with Manny and wanted to meet the new LB coach before making another decision. Damn, this is refreshing!

Couldn't agree more. It's hard not to love a guy who brought in the best class in the history of bama and GT
Not only did he do that, he did it in the only year he spent with each program. Pretty phenomenal. Go look at Bama's recruiting before Collins and GT's recruiting both before and after.

As much as I hate losing Diaz, I'm equally miffed that I can't have a shirt that says "Third down is recess."

Although it would help if I'm trying to be a huge jackass if I'm actually aware of which school I should be talking about. Epic fail for me.
