Are you kidding me? The worst case scenario is to make the tourney next year? That is ridiculous. I will take the worst case scenario, since it is the best case scenario in NU history.

Yeah - I am not a Collins fan but if he actually made the tournament next year he would very much deserve a contract extension. Just not for 7 years.

Does anyone really have any strong feelings about the competency of any of our assistants?

I mean, how are people's feelings formed about these people we never hear from? Soundbites from the head coach and commentators? Is there anything else?

For years it has been the Brian James does a great job with bigs. 100% tied to emotions related to the fact that Pardon was very good for us. He also has a big playbook! Everything about James comes from the mouth of CC or commentators. And commentators, most times, are doing nothing more than regurgitating what they heard from Collins.

Borovich and Battle? Can we even remotely have any idea what they are worth? I don't know how that's even possible.

Personally I have zero inclination to believe any of our assistants is capable. Or not. I don't know. As it is, all I have to go by is what talking heads say on TV. And that's worth close to nothing.

Put a Martineli type on the bench and I will start believing someone is trying to save Collins from himself.
NU does have pretty darn good out of bounds plays and you can see James draw many up. While not a CCC recruit Olah saw significant improvement under James. As good as Young is fundamentally at least some credit has to go to coaching there.

To follow up the no strong feelings point. I don’t follow other programs as closely as NU but I have no idea if they’re good or not or even what they do specifically. I follow NU closely and I’m taking media and CCC’s word on James working with bigs (I don’t see why that’d be a lie). Ik nothing but pure guess work on the rest.

I also only knew one assistant coach that had the ability to dictate some substitutions/playing time. So a lot of the complaints that the board points out probably shouldn’t be directed towards firing assistants or bringing new ones in.

Fully agree on the zero inclination minus James. Without being in/around the program difficult for me to tell.

Mea culpa. Dumb take.

Next year sure feels headed for wins over the GLIAC and arguments over what constitutes a ‘close’ conference loss. Yuck.

There’s always football. Yuck.
At least there’s the Cubs. Yuck.
There’s always the Bears. Yuck.
