From last year to this year, the Buffs jumped from 66 to 32 in football recruiting according to Rivals team rankings. Does this mean that the state of Colorado is going to become a harder place for Nebraska recruiting because the Buffs are becoming more competitive?

It would make sense. Yes. But how many blue chip players have we gotten out of Colorado lately? Purely off of the top of my head I can't think of any

Nebraska has gotten some good players over the years from colo, but it's never been a hotbed where UNL had to go there. Some years maybe a few commits, others 0, very up and down.

If they have another year or two of success MacIntyre will move to a better job and the Buffs will go back to the ash heap. So if them having a good team for a while may impact us recruiting there for a couple years, I don't expect it to be chronic.

I don't know how well they'll do now that Colorado's former DC Jim Leavitt left to join Willie Taggart's staff at Oregon. But it certainly is good for the PAC-12 that they got better this year.

After 1 season on special teams you're able to determine this? I guess you could be right I just thinks it's a little premature. New secondary coaches and all.

I've felt this way since Domann was a Senior in high school. I expect JoJo to move ahead. Of Avery on the safety Depth chart this season. Eric Lee still has time to make a move at Corner.

Didn't Neiuheisal have a couple decent CO seasons and move onto UCLA?
He went on to Washington were he ended up getting fired for filling out a tourney bracket that iirc had a small cash prize (I guess technically gambling)...well that was the excuse so they could fire him with cause...can't remember what the real story was...

Anyway...the last 3 years the #1 player in CO (in a state that only produces a couple true blue chippers each year) has not only left the state but ended up in the B10...UC had a very solid year on the field but I don't think they've shown they are a true threat if an out of state school wants to come in and pouch the type of kids who help you win championships

He went to Washington but I think he was asked to leave because of the recruiting violations. Could be wrong.

So 1 coach is the answer.
I'm not sure why there is a bee in your bonnet about this. Whatever happened in the past at Colorado, if Mac has a couple more good seasons and a blue blood offers, I can't see him staying in Boulder.

Because people make stuff up. Rick Nueheisel is the only coach from Colorado, in recent memory, to leave after having even moderate success. So because 1 guy, who had any success there, left that means MacIntyre is going to leave as well. Why? Because message board guy says so? Just not buying it is all.

I suspect it isnt a colorado thing as much as its just a common ncaa trend thing. Good coaches move up. If they have a bunch of success still, after how awful theyve been recently, schools larger and with better resources than colorado are gonna come knocking. Its not that crazy to think hed leave for a blue blood.
Youre kinda over reacting to this.

Good CU coaches in my memory

McCartney - Could have upgraded but chose CU. Retired by choice.
Neuhiesal - left CU voluntarily for greener pastures at Univ of Wash.
Barnett - Could have upgraded but chose CU. Scandal ended his coaching career, although in hindsight nothing like PSU or Baylor.

That was 3 straight coaches that could have used CU as a stepping stone but only one did. We had Devaney/Osborne and both stayed, but not 3. Say what you will about Frank, but he was never in danger of being poached.

Colorado had a huge class of 28, but average quality of recruit ratings is mediocre -- 42nd according to Rivals. They lost a ton of key seniors but probably more importantly their best coach by far, Jim Leavitt. He had some issues at his previous job but the guy obviously can coach defense.

I think MacIntyre, with help from Leavitt, did a great job of making CU not-terrible, but it remains to be seen if he can keep them consistently above .500 and in the hunt in the Pac-12 South. I like MacIntyre and I think he's a really good coach. But it's one thing to take what was quite possibly the worst Power 5 program in the country and make them respectable. It's another to keep them in the top 25 year in and year out. He might be able to do that. but it won't be easy. Personally I think he ends up staying in Boulder for quite a while because his stock will slip a bit in 2017 and he'll no longer be the hottest name around.

Interesting conversation. I would add though that I see greener pastures, in terms of recruiting in someone else's backyard, in Missouri. There is good talent in that state and Missouri football is currently in the ******* and headed into an even deeper ******* it seems. That is a State within our radius we definitely need to exploit

I think it happens far less than people believe.

Texas - hired a American Conference HC
Georgia - Hired a P5 assistant.
LSU - hired from within
USC - hired from within
Michigan - from the NFL
Alabama- from the NFL
Oregon - American conference
UCLA - NFL
Florida - Mountain West
Notre Dame - American Conference
Virginia Tech - American Confernce
Stanford - from within
Auburn - from within
Oklahoma P5 assistant
A&M - American conference
Tennessee - CUSA/ American
Florida St - from within
Miami - unemployed
Washington - Mountain West
Clemson - from within

On the other hand

Wisconsin - from Pitt (returning to alma mater)
Nebraska - from Oregon St -
Oregon St - Wisconsin - not a move up
Penn St - from Vandy.
Arkansas - Wisconsin one could argue this is not a step up

There might be others. That was just off the top of my head. P5 HC to P5 HC moves don't happen all that much.
