He's complaining about his friends- who wasn't there mind you- seats getting cheese accidentally- his words not mine- spilled on the seats.
I'll be straight up honest here- if I spill something at a stadium, I normally don't clean it up. Unless it's to the point where everyone else around me is uncomfortable of course, but otherwise you look around the stadium and there is trash from fans everywhere- and I'm talking about every stadium in America, not just Dudy-Noble Field.
Did Mr. Pomphrey think that they wouldn't clean up his friends seat before the next game? Therefore, what did it matter that someone spilled some cheese? Really- we're talking grand scheme of things here.
The bottom line is this- this guy doesn't want to sit around college kids- well, guess what? You're at a COLLEGE baseball game. Guess who lives and does things at colleges? College students. And if the worst thing in the world that they do is spill some cheese, I think we're doing pretty darn good.
And I don't see anything wrong with naming the field after Cohen- that would mean he did better than Polk. Gee, that would suck considering Polk's HOF career. And what's wrong with Papelbon? I think he's awesome and he represents us well for the most part. He is a recognizable name and if he contiunues to pitch the way he has over a period of a few more years and can rack up 400 saves- still has some work to do, certainly- you're talking about a HOF relief pitcher. I'm supposed to be embarassed by that? And I'm sure he is OK with the Palmeiroid Center.
I'll tell you what he doesn't get- is that Polk didn't "build that stadium". Dudy-Noble, RP Patty, and Paul Gregory- who actually has more SEC regular season titles than Polk if I'm not mistaken, and Pat McMahon were all part of MSU and the great program that it is. Polk is also part of it- but he is by no means the guy that built it from scratch. Great coach- but it's ignorant to dismiss the other that also have made MSU baseball great. Especially in a letter where he is talking about "respect".
Having unfortunately met this guy- at the basketball game- I can tell you that this is a guy that is an egomaniac and he has a low self-esteem. He tries to control things to make him feel better. And it's best if he is ignored instead of feeding into his ego. (Like I just did)
