According to its website, The St. Louis American newspaper is the leading, most-trusted voice of the area’s African-American community. A sports columnist refers to the Flyers coach as "Quarterfinals Sunkett," a jab by the East St. Louis “street-patrol.” "But, in order to shut up the street patrol, it is state championship or bust for the self-proclaimed starter of the rich tradition of Flyers’ football, whose only state title came in 2008."

ESL, E-Ville and Althoff game previews here:

I'd assume it's the desire to play with the big boys, which gets their players more looks. Plus, if they ever lost in 6A, the 'street patrol' would be calling for heads to roll.

Some fact checking would help the writer.
1. Willowbrook is in Villa Park not Villa Grove. Only 168 miles off.
2. The Hitters are defending 7A champs.

I guess looking at their recent history I feel like 6A would be a good fit. Dominate that level then move up.

Yeah ... they are not competitive ...

Are you saying they would have won 6A the last 3-4 years? Unlikely.

Now I have them winning 7A this year, but your post and the subsequent post by @MS4EVER make it sound like 6A and under isn't good enough for ESL, AND it would be a cakewalk for them. I call BS.

Another fact check - not sure about what happens if Rolling Meadows wins, but if Benet wins ESL is coming to Lisle. Benet hosted Round 1, but was on the road for Rounds 2 and 3.

To clarify I should have said TRY to dominate 6A then move up. 5A and 6A are really good football.

Real simple fellas, it's a preference. It's something that everyone has an option to do if they feel it's best for their team. ESL was is 6A in 2013 and 2014. 2013 regular season was 6-3 and lost by 1 in the Semis. In 2014 regular season record was 5-4 and lost in the Quarters. What I can say for sure is there is a huge difference in 6a and 7a if you look at all teams. I believe the top 3 teams in any class to play with any team in the state however the other 29 present the class difference.

No question there, but to say they want better exposure (not you, someone else) is laughable. Plenty of looks at the 6A level. And if you cannot win 6A, what makes you think 7A makes sense?

So.... I am not the only one to say/think there are differences from 6A to 8A playoff teams?

They're going to win the whole thing and it won't be a contest. this team plays not with a chip, but a boulder on its shoulder.

ESL was going to win regardless of class this year coming off of the teacher strike. These boys are hungry

Correct, game would be at Benet. And, I think would be a much closer game than it should be. ESL should win by 3 scores at the minimum.

But, if this match-up does happen. You would have to think back to back weeks with the long haul, playing a no name Benet group, ESL will be looking ahead to Champaign time. And, will have a dog fight on their hands.

"this team plays not with a chip, but a boulder on its shoulder."

For what reason(s) ?
