Comcast in Tupelo is clueless.......

I went by to pick up my digital box this morning & there were a couple of other people in there checking on the game. The lady was telling them ESPN told Comcast that the game would be blacked out in Tupelo/Miss.

I told her ESPN's website has the blackout maps for every game listed & Miss was in the blue zone....and it should not be blacked out.</p>

I got my box, after getting assurances that if it were blacked out, I would receive a credit.</p>

And then, they asked me how much it cost per week for Gameplan.....unbelievable !</p>

It's not just Tupelo. Comcast employees are the bottom of the barrel. Never ask questions to the people that work in the local offices. They have absolutely no idea what is going on and will be wrong 100% of the time. Go with the opposite of what they say. Call in and someone will set up the game for you on PPV. When I ordered the WV game last year, I called in and the first person I talked to told me for sure that it wasn't going to be on. I simply hung up on her, called back in and had the next person order it for me. When you call in and the person sounds like an idiot and you know they are probably wrong, hang up and call back in. You will always get a different person and maybe they have a clue. I can't imagine that there is a worse run company of their size in the world.

Oh, I know.....and I do have DirecTV at home. I have to work tomorrow, so I was going to set it up at work & watch it.

There's also a bar next door, and I'm going to run it over there as well so they can watch it too.....

2. You have to have a box for every tv and pay for each one, in my case that would be six direct tv boxes.
This just won't work in my kitchen or on my deck.
3. If the wind blows hard or other bad weather, you get no signal.

Concast cable without a box = no digital programming, no on-screen tv guide, no PPV, no On-Demand. In other words, it sucks. Might be fine for a 13" tv in the kitchen, but that's not what I base my purchase on.

see above. a friend of mine has a sat box on his tv on his deck (it's protected from the elements, just like his tv)

Not really. I might lose satellite for 5-10 minutes during the heaviest part of a torrential downpour. The upside is that when the storm clears, you have signal again. If your cable goes out from a downed limb or tree, you could be out for hours, if not a day.

1. Tell my wife a disc is okay.

2. I have two HD boxes with my cable, the other 4 TV's are just regular cable.
A box won't fit in kitchen, and if did would look like ****.

3. I agree when the cable does go out, it takes a while to get it back on.

I'll call it a draw...
To each thier own, either way we have to pay for the game tommorrow.

Question:
Is gameplan in HD on Direct TV, it is not on Comcast.

after having directTV for over a year in a place where it rains a lot in the winter, I can say that number 3 is just a big crock of ****. My signal hasn't gone out once in over 12 months.

And as for number 2, if you have a cable company that will give you unlimited boxes or DVRs without making you pay some amount of money per month for them, you got a good damn cable company.

Number 1, can't help you there.

but where I am, DSL has fiber speeds up to 20MB and beats the hell out of cable speeds. I currently have the 7MB DSL package, and it consistently gets the full bandwidth available. Way faster than my old comcast cable modem service from Ohio.
