If you have a favorite show on DVR in Jackson Comcast then you had better copy it to DVD before Oct. 21. Comcast is going to wipe out all recordings as of that date as part of its new Channel 1 on demand that is being put on line that date. I know lots of people who DVR games, me included.

What is going to happen to the DVRs. Are we not going to be able to use them any more? Why would they need to wipe them? Can you explain the reasoning behind this? How do you know this is going to happen? BTW I have had both Dish and Direct tv and would rather not have a TV then have to deal with those asswipes at both of those companies again. I have cable rain or shine or wind or whatever.

I say <17> any apartment complex that tells says you can't mount a dish. There's an FCC law that says they can't stop you. Now you might have to carry liability insurance and adhere to some other conditions, but you can put a dish up.

I guess I could put a dish up but it will not help much since we are facing the wrong direction

Just spoke with comcast and they said this rumor has been started numerous times. Comcast has a policy in place that they must send out 2 letters, one a month and one two weeks prior to doing anything that will mess with the memory on the DVR's. Channel on on demand is scheduled to go online on the 21st but it will just show up just like when comcast adds a new HD channel. Take the tinfoil hats off everything will be ok. if the original poster disagrees, post a link.

Because we don't want to? I've had Dish and DirecTV. Now I'm back with cable, does that answer your question? Nothing really wrong with either one, but they aren't the godlike services that anti-cable people make them out to be. Cheaper? ********. More reliable? Questionable. Better customer service? Not IMO. I got screwed more times with billing screwups, unauthorized charges, and mistakes with DirecTV than I ever have had with cable. Also, I like having my local forecast on the Weather Channel, like my local HDs without having to use an antenna and Comcast internet blows away DSL.

.....they currently don't have a date set in the near future for adding them. I realize I could get them on antenna, but all I have is an old rooftop antenna that doesn't get a very strong reception and I'm not about to go spend money to have one installed when Directv might add HD locals a month later. So, I'm waiting for now.

But I promise you, I am going to drop Comcrap cable when Directv does add the HD locals. And this joke about adding Channel 1 On Demand with over 1,000 HD "choices" is a complete joke. I want linear channels, not "choices," and most other people do too, and Comcrap will never be able to add enough of them to satisfy the growing desire for HD from customers.

I got a phone an automated phone call from Comcast this past Wednesday...and its still on my answering machine....concerning the OS "upgrade" and the wiping clean of all DVR's. And to back up any video or memory that you didn't want to lose.

I was a little surprised that they would have to blow out the memory to upgrade....but whatever. The quality of Comcast has sunk to new lows. I only thought Time Warner was bad.

I agree. We need more quality HD like ESPN News, Fox Business News, Weather Channel, etc. It is tough to survive without those linear choices.
