Rich Rod as football coach and Devries as our already successful bball coach with a talented 3 point shooting son playing for him. Sound familiar?

Neal brown used the lack of resources as an excuse today, of course. Meanwhile Rich Rod is winning the CUSA championship despite having the least resources in that conference and even if Rich Rod did lose, he wouldn't blame it on the lack of resources or his fcs laden roster. He would man up and own it.

I'm guessing an announcement would be no later than Sunday (IF it is Rich Rod). If we don't hear anything by Sunday, then I'd say it's a good bet that it won't be Rich Rod.

Neal Brown: Blah blah, you can't expect top 4 results..Blah blah... with bottom 4 resources, blah blah blah.

Rich Rod: Hold my beer!

If he has a chance at this job, he MUST win over the people in the interview and show some humility. If he goes in there abrasive and with no remorse on any of his decisions, the committee will just move along to the next guy.

Yeah i agree with this for sure. I do think he truly does regret the way things went down and would like a chance to make things right and do something special. If he takes on that mindset, it would be hard to pass him up. He's a good coach and has turned his current team around.

Slaton just endorsed him as well. His former players love him even though he coaches hard. I believe he would win here.

The split fan base is probably a red flag for Wren. Even though it makes sense on a lot of levels to give him a shot at redemption, it may not happen. I hope it does tho!!

Is there a split fanbase right now as it pertains to RR? I know most don't want Jimbo so don't include him on response. I'm as anti RR as it gets and my circle of friends and family I talk to are similar to me with the thought if he does get the job, we will support him as the coach as we are loyal to our school and team. I see that mostly on this board as well. I will be in WV after Christmas and will get the firsthand feel then but hopefully a coach will be named before then.

Honestly, the only thing Baker should be worried about is the DONORS. In the era of NIL, if you piss them off, good luck getting money for GOOD players.

If we don't have a coach by Christmas........then expect the next 4-6 years to be some of the worst in WVU football history.

The only place I've seen it was some comments below a post hoppy made. Some fans saying no way they would never support Rich. But this is a touchy subject and I think after some press conferences and a proper apology, the holdouts will change their minds. The key in all of it is winning. If Rich comes back he will have to win and I believe he will.

Fans support ONE THING = WINNING.

Regardless of who the head coach is, fans support the team and winning. I don't think fan displeasures should factor in to any decision. If Rod wins, the team will get cheered. Who cares if he does?

He will win if he comes back, imo. I can see a big turnaround compared to the last 6 years. With the most popular sports podcaster in his corner, the hype will be there. Recruits will come here. The facilities are top notch. The time is now.

In my honest opinion.......there is only ONE coach that has the hype to be able to capitalize on the situation and rejuvenate the program.

I agree with this. I think the stage is set for him more than any other coach. We could find a good coach, but not one more right for this situation than Rod. I think he will build a winner here in short order and it would be a huge comeback story. He learned his lesson.

I did see that Rich Rod told everyone that he has "no interviews" scheduled with any team. We've all heard this before, even from Rich Rod.

I say no to Rich Rod. Not everyone wants him. Only the most vocal. Sorry. Jimbo has been more successful. The last time Rich was relevant was well before Jimbo won a national title. If concerns are over previous academic reports, don’t we have a strong academic team in place to support? Just sayin.

I say no to RR too. But if it is between those two, I prefer RR. Jimbo is simply not a good coach. But again, I have no say and once hired, I will be supportive regardless who it is.

He has had more success than Rich, both winning a title and having a winning record in the toughest division in football, but I understand your concerns. I kind of hope it’s neither I guess. Find the DeVries of CFB. Can’t be that hard to strike lightning twice in the major sports, right?? Lol

Jimbo was fortunate at FSU. He left that program in horrible shape. He was disappointing at A&M with unlimited resources and a hotbed for recruiting. He would have neither at WVU. He is all hat, no cattle.

I think Rich Rod was one year from breaking out at Michigan despite not being a cultural fit at all. He made Arizona way better and his only bad season there were injuries and young players. Winning 10 games at Arizona is a big deal. Now he has Jacksonville st overachieving and winning. He is a good coach and just fits WVU and always did. That's why everyone was so mad at him. Because he's a good coach and he left. He's the same coach but a changed man.

I read today Nebraska is letting him interview for our job. I didn't think it was possible to want someone less than RR or Jimbo but Dana fits that category. A big hell no from me.
