Saw this reply from Rosebowl when asked to run down his opinion on the 3 basketball signees.
This is what he had to say of Wendell Lewis

I have not seen Wendell play, but I am told he's a big guy with some three skills. He can play facing up. He sounds like Tang Hamilton.

Lewis looks nothing like Tang. Lewis might play facing the goal at times, but he's a true power forward. Tang was not.

This is almost as ridiculous as Wardlaw several years ago trying to tell me that Otis Riddley was a backup Tackle.

he came to watch some games at FBCJackson. the A league has some players, and he was hanging around with the guy who usually coaches a couple of teams. shot around with us between games. i wasn't sure who he was, but as soon as he shot, i recognized the fader. he laughed when i told him that. i should've asked what he is doing now.</p>

Bellevue is a mega church here in Memphis. The only rule in the A league is 4 team players have to be church members. The other 8 can be whoever the team wants. It's a ridiculous league. Tons of former college players, even some former pro players (overseas) like Bobby Parks, a former Memphis great that played for a long time in the Philippines. He was drafted by the Hawks out of Memphis. He made it look so easy. Those kind of guys just never miss.

"Beautiful" Bobby Parks

there is no member requirement at FBCJ, and i think only one or two teams in either A or B are mostly members. i play in both. the A league has several former college players and a couple of AAU-ish teams. emery kelly of provine played last year - i had to guard him. tough night. trey johnson (the jsu star from a few years ago) was on the team that put us out of the tourney this year. he can light it up. my shining moment was a couple of years ago, when i absolutely swatted a joezon darby drive.

he used to do Public and Private schools in Mississippi as well as church leagues for extra money.

He gave out way more T's in the church leagues than he EVER did in the school leagues. One time during a church league game, some guy (he was a player) didn't like a call my Dad made and argued, got T'd up and then "wanted to take things outside." My Dad said, "OK". So they both went to the door on the other side of the gym and out the door goes the pissed off guy and then my Dad shut the door and locked the guy out of the gym.

I think the guy went home.

...the most savage league I ever played in was the Intramural League at Lake Junaluska United Methodist Assembly one summer. The Services director would hire college b'ball players to fill out his team. Tony Robinson from Mississippi State was playing for them the summer I was there. There were more technicals, ejections, and just plain dirty play than I've ever seen even in any college intramural league.
