So living in Austin I have very little in the way of cold weather clothing (and I don't spend much time outside on the rare occasions it does get cold).

I know it may sound stupid to some of you, but how prepared should I be? The 14 day forecast currently shows lows in the teens, which for you guys might be normal but not down here. If we hit that number we all run inside and hibernate.

I'm 40 years old and it's been my dream to be able to come up to Lincoln for gameday and I finally get the chance and I don't want to ruin it by freezing my *** off (more than I need to at least). It's one thing to be outside in that kind of cold for a few minutes, it's a whole other thing to be out in it for an entire day.

Mainly asking because there might be something I'm not thinking about beyond the usual "wear lots of layers".

Under Armour 3.0 base layer. Shouldnt be cold enough for 4.0. That should keep you warm enough around Thanksgiving.

White shoes, red pants, white shirt.
Bring a red sportcoat in case you get chilly.

Can't go wrong.

I think a hat and good gloves can make a big difference. Who cares if your torso is warm when your ears are freezing off!

Also, I never understood scarves until I wore one in windy, single digit weather... I feel ten degrees warmer just with the wind off my neck. A big beard could also work.

If it's cold at all don't wear light tennis shoes, once your feet are cold you're screwed. Decent leather shoes or boots. I always think a long sleeve T, a fleece and a windbreaker type jacket layered up and you're good to go.

Just drink a bunch of rumplemints, or oyur favorite liquor. You will be plenty warm!
Cabela's has these great polar fleece lined jeans for about $35 or so I have a pair and LOVE them for cold game days! Also as mentioned warm hat and gloves and warm feet.

We've been pretty warm so far this Oct/Nov, about 10-15 degrees above average temps, if not higher. If it's a 2:30 kick we might be in the upper 40's or 50's. 11:00 kick entirely different story.

Feet, hands, ears/head. Keep those warm and you'll be fine. Buy a few sets of hand warmers.

Starter jacket from the 90's (with the Husker Nat Championship patch on the arm), wranglers, mullet, polyester farmer hat (with $5 Tommy O. aviator shades), tan work boots, and a woman 30lbs bigger than you on your arm. You'll fit in just fine....

Don't wear anything, run onto the field, and hump Kirk Ferentz.
