Classless. Just like many scUM fans.

The first co-worker I think of that's an Ole Miss fan, is fat and has a goatee. And also from Rankin County. Oops that shoots down 2 of those quaint little jabs.

#9 of the last set of 16 is also hilarious. Has there ever been an Egg Bowl that MSU has ever won? Any MSU win is ALWAYS followed by some Rebel excuse.

There is a WIDE WIDE gap btwn perception and reality with Ole Miss...

Oxford ole miss etc.......have a family full of em, married to one, spend a lot of time with family in oxford, do business there.....I swear to you on all things holy.....There is a HUGE, I mean, like a fukcing HUGE GRAND CANYON difference between the perception of anything OLE miss and Oxford and the reality of themselves and their city.

Regarding #7 under JUCO's selection .... last week I was in Destin. Played golf 3 times, and the last day the guy who cleaned my clubs and loaded them into the car was an Ole Miss grad .... I didn't realize it until he made a comment about my MSU hat, so one thing led to another. Nice subservient kid ....

They can make a list of a million things that take a swipe at us and make them feel better about themselves, but there are some very fundamental things that they are always going to struggle with, because they are either too arrogant, or too stupid to address them.

1. Their name. We all know what it means. There is no counter-argument a rebel can produce that makes him look intelligent.
2. Their fans. Elitist, entitled douchebags. The kind of people that made Brandon Bolden say, "I can't wait to leave Oxford."
3. Their culture. A facade of pretentious fanciness and contrived "tradition". The kind of stuff that middle-aged, white alcoholics love.
4. Their sports programs. Baseball and Basketball have a tradition of underachievement. They pull out all the stops for football, and get more brazen when we have some success.
5. Their women. If you're looking for someone to get high and roll around with, go to oxford. If you're looking for someone to marry and start a family with, go to starkville.
6. Their propaganda machine. Everyone drinks the kool aid. This may be the best part of it all...they don't know that they have a problem.

Don't let their swipes get you fired up. Over time, things tend to work out as intended.

#3 I knew some who were Alco's before they ever got there. It's weird because ppl usually become Alco's because they're unhappy with life or to cope with something.

the original one about their baseball compared to ours is really laughable. If your an ole miss guy and you want to knock on state you should probably steer really far clear of anything dudy noble or baseball related...you got nothing.

Quite possibly the most dead on post I've ever read about the Rebels.

there is visual proof of them storming the field after beating us last year so this too is hypocritical.

It is funny how someone can drive from Tupelo to Oxford down 6 and yap about the majesty of Oxford MS. At least they could replace the faded confederate flags before trying to lay claim as being a jewel of the old south. I'm also surprised they haven't erected a fence at the highway 6 and 7 junction to mask the trailer park in the middle of town. Ya know... Cause there are only antebellum homes and expensive lofts in Oxford.

Stopped at the Steak 'n Shake in Southaven on the way to Omaha this year. The night-time manager (in his 40's) struck up a conversation with us because I was wearing a State hat. Didn't give us a chance to win... Then told us he's an OM grad.

I'm in the same boat. Most of the OM grads I run into are in service industry type things. I also get parents that comment that their kids went to OM and usually the story is that they aren't doing so hot or are trying to find themselves in life.

As someone who lives in Lafayette county(very different from Oxford) Oxford is not in the least what it is made out to be there have been mutiple murders this year and almost everyone is drug related oxford is the prime example of a morally incorrect and superficial society

I like the idea, but this was poor execution. Some of it had potential (I liked the example of a Jerry Clower joke), but some of it was really stretching. For example, what's the big deal with having a specific ticket for the Egg Bowl? The tickets for all games are specific to that game, and no tickets to two different games were identical. As someone else said, a lot of it could easily be switched around to be jokes about Ole Miss.

for those that read redcup, is that the norm for them? i was under the impression they were far more witty than this. i was expecting the appropriate blend of wit, faux elitism, and inflated sense of self worth. sadly, i was left wanting when i realized it was most likely authored by a bunch of small-town nobodys with a public education. to be fair, i only read half of the list, so it might have gotten better.

who stormed the field in 2007? I dont have any memory of that happening

No one. The last time people stormed the field in Starkville was the 2004 Florida game. Ole Miss fans spent months insisting that we did after Georgia in 2010 (...yeah, I know), despite all the video evidence against, so apparently that's just a thing for them.

It's an homage to eggbowl.com?

I guess we lack the subtle, refined sophistication of Crunchy Mike and drinky Grove girl.

Back in the day **** talk like this was so much better. Ole miss fans seemed to be so much better at getting a rise out of us.

Poor attempt. Very poor.

I've got a relative and a friend who both had a chance to play for Ole Miss in different sports but for faults of their own didn't make it to campus. One went to a few different colleges not named Ole Miss and graduated a decade later and the other didn't bother, but from what I can tell they let people know they went to Ole Miss. Take those folks with a grain of salt. Some might have actually graduated from Ole Miss (maybe even the Tupelo campus) but I'm sure I can find a manager of some Waffle Houses that claim MSU too. It's Mississippi, dammit.

I'll be the first to let you know that I hate Ole Miss but love Oxford. If I had to spend more than a weekend there at a time I'd hole myself off, so let them have "tHe GrEaTeSt CoLlEdGe ToWn EvEr!?!" Some of the best nights of my life were keg parties on Planter's Row and/or drinking 32's under the bridge in the Cotton District... hood rat stuff you can't do in Oxford. You get slammed on the hood of a police car for trying to use a fake in the square.

Pros and cons to everything, but we did some crazy things. The bars and the slutty women were few and far between, but I had fun. We got creative.

On a more positive note regarding Ole Miss grads and students ... was playing golf a few years ago, I think somewhere in Georgia, and the cart girl was an OM student home for the summer. Me wearing my MSU hat effected a bit of camaraderie that far from home, and she was very friendly, and also very nice looking (as you know, being hot is prerequisite for becoming a cart girl ... more sales and better tips). So the relationships of the two schools is not always hostile, especially outside the state.

I think its so funny that they dog our Maroon-White cheer....Hotty Toddy? seriously...and a fight song that sounds like a 3rd grader came up with it...If I was an Ole Miss fan I would just feel awkward and almost gay having to say Hotty Toddy to another grown man.

I'm so sick of hotty toddy I could spit. It's stolen from the Virginia Tech band. Yes, their mother-of-all-cheers is... gasp... not original to them. It goes way back and is a bastardization of a cheer from... an A&M-style military school.

"We love Faulkner. And we rhyme 'flim flam' with 'bim bam' because we're so literate."

I hate them all.

That dubmass "Love is Gone" (or whatever) dance they do in the dugout for baseball is stolen from Miami.
