Comments by some Rebels at the game that I'd never heard before

Aside from the lack of intensity, MSU players generally looked bad out of shape for playing SEC football. I had no defense, aside they were in line behind their coach at the food bar

I think Croom went soft on them this fall when compared to previous years. I have no facts to back this up - it was just the impression I got while reading about pre-season practices in August. The articles & comments just didn't seem like he was as intense. I think that idea was proved correct in the embarrassment at LA Tech.

I believe he and the entire team were way overconfident after last season. And that probably led to them not working as hard during the pre-season. As a college football coach, you've got to approach every season as if you're on the hot seat. Just look at LSU & Les Miles - with the talent they've brought in over the last few years, there's no way they should've lost to Arkansas & Ole Miss (and almost Troy). I'd bet good money that Les has that team refocused next year and back with another 10 win season.

b/c personally you're the 3 best in the SEC. But a bigger miracle would be how we got 4 wins?

Nobody's been hating on our (former)strength coach, but dang he do anything?

I think it's we're so damn small. It's not just our QB, it's our o-line, our receivers and our TE's. The only guys we have that are pro size on offense were Brandon McRae, Sherrod, Dixon and Ducre.

Same with our defense to a lesser extent. I mean, Karlin Brown? Come on.

I know size isn't everything (insert joke here, I deserve it), I mean Pegues is a little undersized at safety, but he has NFL talent. If you don't have talent, you better have size so that you can be coached up and developed.

The is most evident on special teams - our kick/punt returners other than Pegues (Bonner, Robinson) look like they're going to be torn apart.

Also, other than conditioning, I thought our on the field discipline and technique was worse this year. Maybe that's due more to a lack of experience in many positions - but could also stem from less focus on the "little things" during practice.

That's all there is to that. Croom can blame the players for not executing, but when it happens repeatedly, well...

prolly worked much harder this off season. Still, its a lesson learned the hard way-do your job, you're getting paid some serious Benjamins.
