Boom!!!!

PG: Kate, Kelly
SG: Brooks, Transfer, Zubich
SF: Burrow, Hull
PF: Akot, TQ, Astakhova
C: Toomey, Thomas, Bonfia

If we could add Williams, that would be massive, but either way we need one more guard and I think we’d be set.

Add Williams and I think we are a top 10 team and best in the ACC.

Looks like she may be better with the dribble than LG and maybe quicker. Is that an accurate read?
Don't think shes quicker shes bigger. I made multiple post about Lanie i been telling everybody shes too small to be a SG. In women's basketball your seeing bigger athletic wing players now and burrows is an example. Its hard to stop a big wing player going down hill

No knock on LG, but now with Burroughs height and size, CB can use that by having her post smaller guards in the post now. Something we could not do with LG. I think we all remember how Wes did that to us at NC State when he had S. Rivers and she posted RK and DK down in the blocks. They were just to small to be able to defend that. Teams did RJ the same way on the men's side. They got mismatches were he had to try to guard taller and longer guards in the paint. There is nothing a small guard can do against that. That is a big plus when we play teams that have guards that are 5'9" and below.

Think of a a bigger, more lengthy Lanie Grant. A bettter defender and causes more havoc defensively. Still a good shooter, but probably not to the degree of LG. Will probably be a much better finisher and rebounder.

gosh, imagining the length of length and havoc defensively of Kate, Burrows, Brooks, Akot, and Toomey is really exciting. Then you throw in a much improved defender in Taissa, Hull, Reniya, Blanca, Bofia, etc! Guys, this could be the best defensive teams in the Banghart era… and we’ve had a ton of Top 15 defenses

Did you not watch the tape Carolina151. Her numbers are almost or might be better than LG. She is a better finisher and rebounder than Grant. That was obvious when watching the film. She is taller and has length. Do you know anything about players from Australia. They can flat out shoot the ball. Do you remember G. Amore when she was at VT? She gave us all kinds of problems. If you watch the women's bb in the Olympics, the Australians women can shoot it. They are known to be great shooter. Do you remember GT? Nell always brought in foreign players. She always had one from Australia that could just flat out shoot the ball. Cal has some the year before last.

Can you not read the numbers and tell that a 30% shooter is not as good at a 41%?

Need to add some athleticism on the wing in the worse way.

Don't know if this has any significance, but none of our coaches or players are following Jada on her Instagram account.

Outstanding shooter. Not as skilled or athletic on ball as the guards we lost but a great player and perfect complement to Harpring and A2. Need another secondary ball handler and a big and this team is cooking.

That is a good point; however, she can rebound on both ends of the floor and she can post in the paint as a big guard which are things the guards we lost could not do well. My point is all three players have strengths and weakness. That will pay dividends when we play against small guards, CB can run set plays in the post for Burrows on the offensive end.

North Carolina Women’s Basketball Adds Sophie Burrows To Backcourt For 2026-27

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. –
The reach of North Carolina women’s basketball is undeniable, with head coach Courtney Banghart and Co. adding Sophie Burrows to their guard rotation for the 2026-27 season. Burrows dons Carolina Blue after spending three seasons at Syracuse, originally hailing from Lower Plenty, Australia.

The 6-2 guard appeared in 92 games for the Orange, making 65 total starts, including 31 this past season. Posting an average of 11.1 points per game as a junior, Burrows scored a season-high 22 points in the Atlantic Coast Conference opener against SMU, with 18 total games in double-figure scoring. She also totaled a career-best season off the glass, with a personal best 5.8 rebounds per outing and snagged a career-high 16 boards this past year against Clemson.

A force on the defensive end, Burrows snagged 1.94 steals per game to rank eighth overall in the league. She tallied four-plus steals in six games, including a career-high six against Louisville.

Excelling in the classroom, Burrows was also named the 2026 ACC Kay Yow Women’s Basketball Scholar Athlete of the year. The psychology major is a two-time member of the All-ACC Academic team as well.

Burrows carries plenty of experience on the international stage, playing two seasons for the Diamond Valley Basketball Association in Australia’s NBL1 semi-professional league. She has also represented her country, playing for Australia in the 2023 FIBA U18 Women’s Basketball World Cup.

Spending her final season of collegiate action in Chapel Hill, Burrows enters the fold and joins a North Carolina team coming off back-to-back Sweet 16 appearances and 14 Atlantic Coast Conference wins.

Do not sleep on Laila Hull. I expect her to lead the team in 3pt% and maybe in 3's made.
Laila made big strides this past year and mid-season really contributed. It seemed that toward the end of the year her shot disappeared and not sure why. We know that is one thing she can do.

She started rushing her shots and wasn't completely set. Whereas when she was on her run, she was more solid in her core or stepped into a good rhythm. She has a really quick release - which is good - but she has to make sure she is fully set. That's one thing I really appreciate watching Nyla Brooks cause you can clearly see she gets fully set with both feet before launching a 3.

Agree bradarbo8. Laila got rushed up. I think teams running out/focusing on her threw her a bit. I am hoping that another year of experience will help her a lot.

Also if she develops a fake and a quick dribble and shoot move she can make, it will slow down the run out defense she saw..

Bottom line LH can really shoot the ball and being smart and talented I expect her to have another big step season. JMO.
