You are correct in your analysis. Franklin believes in keeping the environment positive to a fault. He gives the kids a pat on the back when they make a bad play, hoping it will encourage them to do better the next time. But he should know better, because he's a parent.
I have seen this as a veteran teacher in schools too. Students are shocked when you expect them to be accountable for behavior, turning in assignments, etc. so many athletes are micromanaged now by parents, coaches etc. Sometimes I think we recruit some players that haven’t been exposed to much adversity or accountability sports wise. They don’t know how to react to negatively or losing.
