wanna make an imaginary internet bet?!?!?!?! You know how much joy you had every year when the Braves somehow lost in the playoffs when they had the best team? Multiply that joy times 100 and that's what I will be feeling when they are interviewing Lou after his team is eliminated. I'd rather see OleMiss cutting down the nets at the final four than see the Cubs win a damn thing. I'd rather see the Lakers win 20 NBA championships in a row, the Steelers win 8 superbowls in a row....than see the Cubs win 1 world series. I hate all these fake Cubs fans from Missisippi. Seriously, you couldn't pick a team any closer? You saw the cubs on WGN one day and said wow that Jody Davis is awesome, I think I am going to be a Cubs fan now!!!!!

In summary, Cubs are going to lose to the Dodgers.

Your friend,
Brutius

p.s. I don't care how or why you became a Cubs fan, even though I have a feeling you are going to tell me anyway.

Rays over ChiSox in 5
Red Sox over Angels in 4

Cubs over Dodgers in 3
Phils over Brewers in 5

Red Sox over Rays in 7
Phils over Cubs in 7 on some freakish play in the 9th inning of Game 7, as the Phillies are down to their last strike.

Red Sox repeat in 6.

* - Note: I watched about 4 entire baseball games this season. These picks are likely to be as accurate as Coach's weekly teasers. But I do hope the Cubs lose.

If you are going to type drivel, at least get the eighth grade punctuation right.

.....the Cubs lose in the playoffs....
or
Obama win the presidency.

To be clear, your choices are:
Cubs and Obama
or
Anyone other of the playoff teams and McCain

Which would it be?

I don't like bandwagon baseball fans in Mississippi because a lot of times they're the douchebags that like to rub things in people's faces after their bandwagon team won. They get all of the t-shirts and hats and everything and don't know who Mark Grace is (Cubs example). Then just as soon as someone else gets hot, they suddenly become a fan of whoever that is.

I respect real fans for any team. You can tell this very simply by giving people a simple quiz:

For example:

(Braves)

Do you know who Dale Murphy is?

Do you know who David Justice is?

Do you know who Bob Horner is?

Do you know who Pascual Perez is?

This is applicable to any team, just insert players as applicable to that team.

If you want to know if they are really hardcore, you can whip out Rufino Linares or Biff Pocaroba.

If they answer the first three questions without looking at you like "who?" then they're a pretty good fan. The last three are for the diehards. This is useful for baseball discussion.

All I have heard on just about every website and baseball show is that the Dodgers will beat the Cubs, or the Phillies will beat the Cubs. The more you guys say it, the more likely they will beat the Red Sox in 6 games. Thanks!

I know those guys. In the same vein: Do you know who Dave Kingman is? Do you know who Fergie Jenkins is? Did Ron Cey play for the Cubs, the Doders or both? Did Bill Buckner play for the Red Sox, the Cubs or both. Do you know who Jody Davis is and what position he played?

Cubs and Obama because while sporting events are fun and exciting, the next 4 years of our country are a little more important than who wins the world series.

Thankfully the Obama question is pretty much moot now, with him leading in almost all the swing states and almost all projection sites showing him with 330ish electoral votes. Now just need the Cubs to lose and all will be right with the world.
