Here's the likely breakdown of bids by conference
LIKELY MULTI-BID CONFERENCES

Big 12: 7 (Oklahoma State's win today solidifies a spot in my opinion)
Big East: 9 (I think 8 is definite, but things could shake down to 7)
ACC: 7
SEC: 5 (could be 4 if we fall off)
Big 10: 5 (could be 4)
Atlantic 10: 4 (could be 3 if URI trips up)
Mountain West: 3
Pac 10: 2 (could be 1 if ASU trips up)

Looking at the above, that's 42 spots (34 at-large from eight conferences)

The following conferences have a shot at multople bids
Missouri Valley
Conference USA
West Coast

UAB, St, Marys and Wichita State (in that order) are waiting for someone to fall off from the upper tier conferences.

Now, the following conference are one-bid conferences that become two bid conferences if the listed team is upset in the conference tournament
Horizon (Butler)
WCC (Gonzaga)
MVC (Northern Iowa)

The following conferences are one-bid conferences that conference favorites become formidable bubble teams if the listed team is upset in the conference tournament
WAC (Utah State)
CAA (Old Dominion)

The other 17 conferences are one-bid conferences, no matter what.

If there are major upsets in the multi bid conferences, or any upsets in the Horizon, WCC or MVC, it takes a spot from the Pac 10, Atlantic 10, Big 10, SEC and Big East in that order, in my opinion.)

I think Arizona State and Rhode Island are already on the outside looking in. San Diego State could play their way in via the Mountain West tourney, giving that conference 4 bids. Lunardi has St. Mary's in, but like us, they really don't have a great profile, aside from winning 24 games while playing in a **** conference. Unlike us they lack the opportunity to pick up another quality win, unless it's Gonzaga, which would be in the WCC tourney title game anyways. However, I could see them getting a bid regardless and being a team of controversy if someone from the Big East like Cincy or Notre Dame gets left out, who as of now, are right on the edge.

Definitely gonna be a year where some teams have legitimate gripes. I hope we aren't one of them. If we can beat Tennessee and take one in Nashville, we outta have enough.
