What’s in it for a conference that picks up a baseball only school?

Numbers.

DBU will be the 7th baseball playing school in the conference.

And more conference games means that Pac-12 schools won’t have to schedule a lot of nonconference games.

So, the PAC 7 will be a powerhouse baseball conference****

They have a good group of 7 here.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see them be a multi-bid league— granted it’ll be two most of the time but I can see three as a possibility.

Can't build a conference on baseball
Baseball is a good complementary piece and is arguably what looks to be the conference’s second-best sport behind basketball.

However, when Boise State, Colorado State, and Utah State don’t play it, it’s a no brainer decision to ask Dallas Baptist which has a very good team.

There are rumors out about Utah Tech being asked to be a PAC-12 baseball-only member if only because they’re going to the Big Sky next year which doesn’t sponsor the sport…

I don’t know about that though…

DBU is such an odd duck. They’re Division II in everything except Baseball. There may be others out there like that, but I don’t know of any.

That’s a beautiful campus overlooking Mountain Creek Lake.

Not trying to. This is nothing but a low risk, low reward scheduling alliance.
Closer to medium reward.

DBU will be stepping up as far as conference competition but the Patriots were by far the best team available for the Pac-12 to add and they ain’t chopped liver…
