Maybe it will make all of us that are superstitious jinxes feel better to get it off our chests. I’ll go first.

This one I have to blame on the wife, she walked in at one minute left and said stop stressing there is no way they can lose. Paul said hold my beer. I knew it was over at that point.

As soon as Caleb was fouled for his FTs, I turned to my friend and said he will miss the first one and a Rutgers will lose the game on a game winning three.

And so it happened! Not exactly a jinx but such a bad premonition

I watched the game while visiting the central PA home of a relative by marriage . . . who is a State Penn fan!
He was nice enough not to drop the karma curse on us. But given what we had just done to them and given where I was, I definitely should have not watched the last minute!

I did because I do not watch away games. Except for Purdue at a bar. I just follow blog and game cast. I put game on for 2 seconds early and saw Paul a turnover and shut it off. Put game on because people on blog felt comfortable so I put it on and saw from 58 seconds with 2 makes from cam to TO by Paul and it shut off again and hoped. Looked 5 minutes later and was disappointed when I saw 58-57.

I watched the game from PHL airport waiting to get home from Mexico. The lead held all the way until I got to my driveway. I had a sinking feeling the whole way home from the airport which was about the last 8 minutes.

I never think we’re going to win (excluding minor OOC games and such) until games are actually over. With exactly two minutes left, I sent out a text that read, “Tonight was all about TCB. Now on to Sunday.” What an idiot.

I put in for vacation days off for the NCAAs at work after we beat PSU. I finally said “alright, we’re gonna beat Minnesota, we’re a lock now” .. only other time I did that was 2020 and immediately after, COVID cancelled the tournament. Looks like I’ll be rescinding the days again, Dayton makes it impossible to book flights to first round. 5 days before is one thing, 2 days is just too expensive

Fan-inspired jinxes don't exist (players can absolutely feel "jinxed" - the human brain is a wild contraption), just like the Tooth Fairy, Santa Claus and deities, but who am I to rain on your parade? I often post in game threads that game X is over and we've never lost when I've done that. I didn't do that the other night, because it was premature to do so. Didn't think we'd lose though, of course.

My feed was a couple minutes behind but I said the game wasn't in question... but it really shouldn't have been

took out little radio to listen to winning recap at 70-60.
(when watching away games on TV, I will listen to winning recaps/interviews on radio.)

I was just about to post that we had an ugly win with 50 seconds left then I had to erase it

I confess I was thinking that some refs were working the 8.5 point line and then someone texted me they were worried about teh game. But well before teh game I was worried about the outcome. We proved earlier in the season that we could beat anyone and lose to anyone. And the idea of beating anyone went out the window with Mag's injury. That left us with "losing to anyone".

Believe what you will, I have tons of evidence to the contrary. And C’mon, Santa Claus not real?!? Who keeps bringing my kids presents?!?!! My wife?!?! Yeah sure, sure!

I couldn’t watch but had the game tracker on until 2:00 left
I was content to hop in the radio less car for the 2 minute ride home and checked the score in disbelief

My bad: Right after the PSU game, I told my kid that Rutgers would pull a Rutgers and lose to Minny with a buzzer beating 3.

I did also say we will beat NW at home by double digits.

So there’s still hope.

With about 4 minutes left and up by 10, I responded rather snarkily to someone on the game thread that said Rutgers was giving the game away (we should blame it on that person actually). I consider it a coincidence as my actions cannot dictate a game, just like my daily cup of iced coffee which is ALWAYS made and/or consumed in my stadium obtained Rutgers cup does not influence Rutgers success or failure. Did my response really make Paul turn the ball over, Paul shoot airball 3s, make Cliff shoot an airball free throw, make Caleb miss the front end FT, make Pike forget how to manage a game, AND make Hyatt a deer in the headlights so, so close to midcourt with nobody around him? I think not.

@RUScrew85 came out of his office to sit with me on the sofa & watch the last minute of the game. He never does that. Ever. I tried to get him to go back into his office but he refused
The loss is on him.

Yeah I guess so. But 40 years of Rutgers doing Rutgers things had a pretty big hand in it too.

We beat a dominant national #1 / B1G #1 then we lose to a very weak 1-16 (B1G) team in the same season.

We come back to win from 19 down on the road to Pedd State and then drop a 10+ point lead to that same worst team in the conference. Only Rutgers.

My wife, who watched most of the second half with me off and on, got up with about a minute and a half left to go get the kids ready for bed. She came back in when she heard me yelling at the television and said she had figured it was over, and then stayed to watch the end.

When McConnell missed his first free throw, I'd told her we were going to lose on a last second three. As soon as it went through the hoop, I just turned off the television, flipped the remote on the couch, and walked away shaking my head.
